TSA . . . where will they stop?

John Pisstole, TSA Administrator, is a fucking liar. This is not about making sure those who are not suspected terrorists can fly without a hitch, it's about having more and more information on all Americans. It's about prying into the lives of EVERYONE. You see, the federal gov't now has a database that they can search any time for anyone and find out when and where you have traveled by commercial air carrier.
Oh sure, it's not going to effect me. I'm not terrorist nor do I do anything illegal in my life, but listen up folks, the Constitution wasn't written so that those of us who are law bidding citizens should give up our rights to catch some criminal.
Look you dumb fuck proles, you are giving up the rights that our founding fathers believed we HAD to have in order to live free just because the gov't says you have to in order to be safe and you're swallowing it hook line and sinker.

I mourn for this country.

TSA says airlines providing more passenger data
AP –
By Jeremy Pelofsky – Tue Nov 30, 4:15 pm ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – All airline passengers on flights to, from and within the United States are being checked against U.S. government security watchlists, the Transportation Security Administration said Tuesday.
TSA said that all of the nearly 130 international carriers flying to and from the United States have begun collecting new data from passengers, including their full name, date of birth and gender, which are then checked against the lists, a program known as Secure Flight.
All domestic carriers began collecting that data in June.
"Secure Flight more effectively helps prevent misidentification of passengers who have similar names to those on the watchlists and then obviously helps better identify those who may be a known or suspected threat to aviation," TSA Administrator John Pistole told reporters.
The information is passed along for checks against the watchlists as soon as the data is received by the airline, he said. The checks were recommended by the 9/11 Commission that examined the 2001 attacks on the United States.
TSA hopes the program will help reduce complaints by passengers who have tried, but failed, to clear their names from databases.

Ignorance on steroids; Creationists and Governors

Here's another reason why it's always dumber in Appalachia.
Will somebody please tell these people that they are living in the 21st Century.
Yes folks, this is the governor of one of the United States of America (granted, it is Kentucky) in the year 2010 in on this fiasco.

Beshear to announce creationist theme park for Kentucky
BY MARK HANSEL news.cincinnati.com
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear [yes, he is a real governor of a real state in the United States of America] and Answers in Genesis, builders of the Creation Museum in Petersburg, will unveil plans for a new Northern Kentucky attraction Wednesday in Frankfort.

The theme park, to be called Ark Encounter, will be located in Grant County, Ky., near the Veteran’s Cemetery.

The attraction is envisioned as a full-scale wooden ark that would include associated museums, theaters, amenities, event venues and outdoor parking.

21st Century Amurkkka

Edmund Morris, who has written three books on Theodore Roosevelt and one on Reagan had this to say about Americans and his interviewer, Bob Schieffer on "Face the Nation."

According to Politico:

Asked during a roundtable discussion what Teddy Roosevelt would think of today’s politics, Morris responded, “You keep asking these presentist questions. As the immortal Marisa Tomei said in My Cousin Vinny, ‘That’s a f***ed up question!’”. . . “you cannot pluck people out of the past and expect them to comment on what’s happening today,”

He then criticized the American people, who “are insensitive to foreign sensibilities, who are lazy, obese, complacent, and increasingly perplexed as to why we are losing our place in the world to people who are more dynamic than us and more disciplined.”

While I wouldn't waste my time reading a book about a traitor like Reagan or a prick like Roosevelt, I do totally agree with his assessment of the American people. Let's repeat it, shall we?

"lazy, obese, complacent, and increasingly perplexed as to why we are losing our place in the world to people who are more dynamic than us and more disciplined.”

In other words, you're a bunch of dumb fuck ignorant, dim witted fat assed proles. THAT is why America is crumbling.

Mindless liberals; same a mindless tea baggers?

Should Terry Gross Go The Way of Juan Williams?

Let's begin with the premise that no people, culture, religious, racial or ethnic group is by definition immoral. Not acknowledging this, at the core, is the problem with Juan Williams' gross generalization about Muslims that recently got him fired from National Public Radio (NPR). But if NPR's "Fresh Air" interview last week with the rapper Jay-Z about his new book Decoded is any indication, it's a message still lost on Terry Gross.. . .

Throughout her interview with Jay-Z, Gross kept returning the discussion to those places that reinforce the idea of Black culture as immoral and Black people as corrupt and/or corruptible. Such anti-Black arguments that once lived primarily in conservative public policy debates have now worked their way into national culture (especially in film, television, news media and politics) to the degree that these views are now widely accepted as the norm.

Argh!!! It's such a bitch for me to hear these white liberal granola chewers drone on and on in their nonthinking manner.

These granola chewing wite liberals are the same as the tobacco chewing white conservatives in one way; they have definite ideas that they believe to be absolutely correct and they never question the validity of those ideas.

We all grow up with prejudices. We are biased toward one thing or another on almost all levels.
Intellectual people who really try to see the reality of the world are constantly checking their beliefs against what they truly observe. There is a constant tweeking of their consciousness and conscience.
Know-it-all white people do not do this with any constancy. They have their beliefs, they can not deal with being wrong so they question nothing within themselves. Oh sure, sometimes they put on a front of humility for theater sake when they get backed against a wall, but that's the extent of it.

Are you checking and double checking what you believe against what you observe in reality?
Are you clinging to old ideas and picking and choosing the things you observe to force fit it to what you believe?
See, a good social mind is like science. You can't come up with an idea and force fit the facts to validate your lame idea. You have to get the facts and form your ideas around them while constantly questioning and double checking reality.

That's probably the real difference between mindless proles and people who think. That's the real reason why the main stream media villianizes intellectualism. Intellectuals think and evolve. Mindless proles just believe what they hear.

Thanksgiving Message

Hello my friends.
Here in America it's Thanksgiving. It's a time for families to gather, be grateful for their fortune, however large or small it may be, and feast. We should enjoy our family and celebrate our personal triumphs and tragedies.
It should also be a time to reflect upon what has happened between today and when people from Europe first set foot upon this great land. If you are of European descent, it's not YOUR fault that our ancestors raped, pillaged, stole and committed genocide against the native population, but it is your responsibility to recognize and be aware of what transpired before we came to be here. In that awareness, perhaps we can recognize the ongoing oppression perpetrated by those who find themselves in positions of authority and rule. We can recognize and speak out against the third world conditions to which many Native American people have been relegated.
Sometimes, it only takes one person to speak up and voice concern when injustice occurs. A single voice raised with or against another single voice can sometimes make a difference. If we are grateful for what we have, and humbly accept our good fortune, we can also be a voice for reason and justice.
So be happy on this day of thanks and celebrate family, friends and good fortune, but never ever forget the past, for those who do, are doomed to repeat it with all its horrors.

Bedagi (Big Thunder) late 19th century.
Wabanaki Algonquin writer

Give us hearts to understand;
Never to take from creation's beauty more than we give;
never to destroy wantonly for the furtherance of greed;

Never to deny to give our hands for the building of earth's beauty;
never to take from her what we cannot use.

Give us hearts to understand
That to destroy earth's music is to create confusion;
that to wreck her appearance is to blind us to beauty;

That to callously pollute her fragrance is to make a house of stench;
that as we care for her she will care for us.

We have forgotten who we are.
We have sought only our own security.
We have exploited simply for our own ends.
We have distorted our knowledge.
We have abused our power.

Great Spirit, whose dry lands thirst,
Help us to find the way to refresh your lands.
Great Spirit, whose waters are choked with debris and pollution,
help us to find the way to cleanse your waters.

Great Spirit, whose beautiful earth grows ugly with misuse,
help us to find the way to restore beauty to your handiwork.
Great Spirit, whose creatures are being destroyed, help us to find a way to replenish them.

Great Spirit, whose gifts to us are being lost in selfishness and corruption,
help us to find the way to restore our humanity.

Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, whose breath gives life to the world,
hear me; I need your strength and wisdom. May I walk in Beauty.

HughesNet SUCKS!

If I had any alternative whatsoever I'd dump this pile of shit in a NY minute. We have analog phone lines out here that always have static on the lines and WildBlue tells me there are no slot available in my area. Cable is years and years away from ever being brought out to this far corner of Appalachia.
HughesNet makes all sorts of claims in their advertisements. Then they offer you options as far as download and upload speeds. I was dumb enough to get the fast expensive plan. Here's the reality. . . It's only slightly faster than dial-up. This IS NOT HIGH SPEED INTERNET. It's fucking creepy crawling internet.

So when you see their ads for "fast high speed service" and making claims that us rural folks can also have high speed internet, it's ALL BULLSHIT because it's actually slow like dial-up even with the upgrade in speed.

HughesNet SUCKS.

More defective and poison Chinese products reflect America's failure

You'd think there would be a public outcry over all the lead tainted and otherwise defective products we keep getting from China. but no, people just keep buying tons and tons of useless crap from the local WalMart without the least bit of knowledge of where the useless crap came from and how it might be made or disposed of once they tire of it. Americans are just plain stupid, ignorant and disconnected from reality.
We just don't seem capable of pulling it all together.
We've had great technological achievements, made great advances in social justice, at time led the way into environmental awareness, and elected great leaders, but when it comes down to really developing an entire society that embraces all these wonderful things, we just can't seem to do it.

Probe is sought of lead in reusable grocery bags

The Democrat told The Associated Press that many of the reusable grocery bags sold nationwide are manufactured in China. Schumer plans to announce Sunday that he is contacting the Food and Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Sky pixies vs. modern medicine

So I know this guy who had a really bad heart attack recently. Like most heart attack victims, he almost checked out. Luckily, he was close to a really good hospital that did all the things that really good hospitals do to get a heart back up and pumping well. Also luckily, he didn't go into full cardiac arrest. % minutes farther from the hospital or doctors who waited 5 minutes longer and they'd have been pulling the sheet over his head. He was circling the drain fast.
So now, after taking all sorts of wonder drugs and five hours of intricate surgery performed by some of the most gifted medical providers on the planet, he is in a good state of recovery. Who knows how long it will last, but they seem to have opened up his veins and his heart is in fairly good shape.
After all this, all he seems able to do is thank his "god":for taking such good care of him. "I have only my lord and savior to thank for my recovery."

Excuse me bozo, but how about those doctors and the wonders of modern medicine? Twenty years ago you'd have been pushing up daisys and your family would be getting on with their lives without your sorry fat ass. Where was your "lord and savior" when my dad died of an aortic aneurism twenty years ago? Today they'd have whipped him into an operating room, wrapped a piece of cheese cloth around that sucker and he'd have been good to go for another 20. I guess your dear lord and savior didn't know about that kind of shit back then huh?

Why don't you get on your fucking knees next time you go to your doctor's office and thank the medical providers for what they did. How about spending five minutes thinking about the wonders of modern science that let them open up your sorry fat chest, manipulate the tiny veins that supply blood to your heart and get it all working again. Spend half a minute being grateful for modern pharmacology that was able to loosen up those clots and restore blood to your pitiful ungrateful heart muscle preventing radical damage of it's cardiac capability.

Then if you really must talk to your imaginary friend the sky pixie, why don't you ask him why the fuck you developed the heart disease in the first place. After all, if he's responsible for your recovery, who's responsible for your demise? If you think about it long enough, you will realize that you developed the heart disease because you were exactly the opposite of those medical providers who saved your worthless life. . . STUPID!
Yea, you gorged yourself on high carb and high fat shit for food while ignoring everything and everybody around you with any brains who were telling you on a daily basis to eat healthy. Now, it has cost $100k to fix your pitiful ass and will cost twicve as much to keep you alive before it's all over.
Oh, you'll probably go ahead and accept that little piece of knowledge that you're a dumb glutton, because after all, it's still easier to be stupid than anything else. And as for your recovery; probably no human power could convince you that it was modern medical science and not your sky pixie that saved your ignorant ass.

I guess that's the benefit of being stupid and/or ignorant. . . it's easy.

A date to forget

Europe plans manned moon mission in 2018
Thu Nov 4, 12:25PM PT - AP
The European Space Agency hopes its lunar mission in 2018 will allow astronauts to explore the Moon's South Pole region, which is of particular interest because of its plentiful sunlight and potential…

Now there's a date that will get pushed forward.
Sure, we did it in 7, but it took a massive effort that I don't believe the Europeans have the resources to mount. I know, you're thinking "But Hillbilly, they have computers and CAD/CAM and all that these day which we didn't have in the 60s. We had to use slide rules, drawing and machinists to get to the Moon" Yea, yea, yea, it'll still take gargantuan gobs of money and tens of thousands of skilled workers to pull off and like I said, they just don't have those resources readily available. What are they going to do, shut down their aircraft production? RAISE TAXES?!?!

BTW: AP, When used to connote the planet like body that orbits the Earth, "Moon" is a proper noun. How about you treat it as such and quit looking like a bunch of Jr. Hi. essay writers.

Developing a culture of responsibility

An item in todays headlines says: "The Growing Burden of Teacher Pensions"

It's a "burden" those teacher pensions. Yea, yea, sure we hired them. We promised them pensions, but it's a "burden" to live up to that. . . uh. . . ok, I'm gonna go ahead and use the "R" word that nobody wants to hear these days . . . RESPONSIBILITY.
So now we find ourselves in a little bit of a financial jam and all of a sudden it's a "burden." I guess we're gonna let corporations who find themselves in a financial jam reclassify their responsibilities as a "burden." Oh wait, we're already letting them do that. Ok, how about this. . . I run up $10k on a credit card and then I can't pay because of a "financial jam (like $10k on a credit card)," can I classify it as a burden and not take responsibility for it? Well, according to some advertisements I see, I'll only have to pay "pennies on the dollar!"
WTF is wrong with the proles and this country in general? Will we ever get back to where people, government, and corporation take responsibility for their actions. Where they live up to their commitments?
Maybe if we developed a little bit of a culture of responsibility in this country we'd all be able to live a lot better lives.
Pay your debts. Know how you're going to pay them before you take them out or just don't take them out. The same general idea goes for gov't and business.
If you make a promise, live up to it. There are extenuating circumstances, but a little bit of financial hardship is not one of them. Serious illness, death, horrible disaster yea, but normal things that one ought to expect in life are not reasons to back out of your responsibility.

Giving in to the extremist right wing. . . again.

Why have the dems been giving in to the extremist right for the past 10 years while they do not budge an inch?
I am sick and tired of these spineless little wimpy democrat dip shits almost as sick and tired as I am of the pricks on the other side.

White House Gives In On Bush Tax Cuts
Huff Post
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's top adviser suggested to The Huffington Post late Wednesday that the administration is ready to accept an across-the-board continuation of steep Bush-era tax cuts, including those for the wealthiest taxpayers.

That appears to be the only way, said David Axelrod, that middle-class taxpayers can keep their tax cuts, given the legislative and political realities facing Obama in the aftermath of last week's electoral defeat.

"We have to deal with the world as we find it," Axelrod said during an unusually candid and reflective 90-minute interview in his office, steps away from the Oval Office. "The world of what it takes to get this done."

A taste of things to come?

I love this. It's about time somebody in the Obama administration decided to man-up.
I hope this is an indication of how they are going to handle the republicans, who also like to impede the common good.

Gibbs threatens to pull Obama from India talks after press dispute
By Michael Calderone

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is known for sparring with White House reporters, making for what often seems an antagonistic mood in the press briefing room.
But during President Obama's trip to India, Gibbs assumed the role of press advocate and threatened to pull Obama out of bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh because three U.S. reporters were blocked from covering the meeting.
Indian officials would let only five reporters into Hyderabad House in New Delhi instead of the agreed-upon eight.
The Washington Post's Scott Wilson—who was on White House pool duty Monday and filed the report for the White House press corps—wrote that "Gibbs announced loudly and persistently on steps of Hyderabad House that he would pull" President Obama out of the meeting "unless 'the White House 8,' as we've come to be known, were all allowed in."
As the discussion continued, Gibbs grew more animated.
"At one point, Gibbs literally had his foot lodged in the closing front door, asking if the Indian security officials pushing hard to shut it were going to break his foot," Wilson continued. "More angry words ensued, and after Gibbs convinced them, through high volume and repetition, that he was serious" about pulling Obama, the press secretary had the security retinue's full attention.

MORE Compromise?!

Democrats compromise when the republican are in control, they compromise when the republicans are NOt in control. Republicans NEVER compromise with democrats.
WTF?!

New reality: Obama, GOP talk compromise, conflict
AP –
A chastened President Barack Obama signaled a new willingness to yield to Republican demands on tax cuts and jettisoned a key energy priority on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after he and fellow Democrats absorbed election losses so severe he called them a shellacking.

21st Century Crumbling Amurkkka

Wow, who would have guessed that two years later, the Amurkkkin voters would have given it back to the party of Bush the MoronMonkeyBoy? Not JUST the party that got us into the HUGE mess we have today, but a more extremist radical, rabid and ridiculously dumbed down version of the party that got us into the huge economic and social crisis we face today.
One has to wonder why the democrats weren't more vocal about how they have taken the proper and brave steps to get our economy on the road to recovery, but really, it is quite obvious and the voters should have been smart enough and well informed enough to know the facts. Alas, the extremist right wing counted on the fact that the proletariat are stupid in 21st Century Amurkkka and they could succeed on lies, exaggerations and other false claims. They could manipulate through fear and intimidation. Well, it that's all the voters of this country are worth, I guess they got what they deserve.
I give up. I'm too old to go nuts wondering why the electorate chose to remain ignorant to fact. I'm too old to contemplate when and why this country went from progressive to stupid. Yes, plain old simple stupid.
I think I'll spend my later years blissfully ignorant myself. Ignorant of the specifics of my country crumbling after only 234 years. I just don't want to watch anymore.
Bye.

What will happen tomorrow?

Will some level of sanity prevail or will a bunch of whacked out extreme right wing religious extremist fundamentalists take the helm of congress? Sadly, here in WV we don't have much of a choice.

We will soon see the fate of our nation.
