I'm in love with all these republican candidates. Really, I absolutely LOVE them. Look, they are the greatest piece of political entertainment to hit the media air waves since Watergate (yes, I was alive and a young college student on summer break working my ass off during Watergate and watched diligently every evening when they rebroadcast the hearings). Like Watergate, every step of this election cycle has been a phenomenal side show of political amusement.

Let's see, we've had Bachmann who was leading the polls for a while after winning some completely insignificant caucus at some completely insignificant republican gathering at some completely insignificant location. Then she began really opening her mouth, or at least the things she said began to really get covered and WOW, Amurrykkka found out what a total asshat they had been routing for. NEXT!

Then there was . . aw hell, my mind can't keep them in order anymore (remember I was alive in 1974). But let's survey the contenders anyway. . .

Cain was a hoot. He was some sort of Uncle Ruckus type character with a little bit charm. What a douche bag. Sadly, the ridiculous moral standards that he and his republican brethren think ought to be imposed upon us all are what brought him down. I love it when that happens. NEXT!

Rick Perry gave it the old brash, big mouthed Texas try. What's with the people of Texas? Why are they so attracted to such openly moronic bozos to be their governor? Sorry Rick (I once had a co-worker who had a sign over her desk that said "never trust a man named Rick), but you don't have an uber-rich daddy sitting with the highest, most powerful levels of world, national and corporate politics to propel you into the White House despite your obvious buffoonery, ridiculous lack of knowledge about anything and blatant bigotry. NEXT!

Newt; just the name is enough to amuse. "FINALLY," the corporate media declared, "someone who can lead us and take control of this primary cluster fuck." BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! I guess they weren't really paying attention to this fat assed dick wad the past couple decades. Can a scumbag who dumped his wife while she was in the hospital being treated for cancer for a hot young skank really get elected president. . . who twice dumped women for other women he was having affaires with? Can he really win an election where he is championing family values and at every turn trying to tell US what is wrong with Amurikkka and ourselves? NEXT!

So who is next? Ron Paul? Paul has a certain charm about him and sometimes makes a bit of sense when he talks about getting gov't out of our lives, cutting defense spending and gov't waste. Then you start paying attention and realize that he is a fucking nut case and wants to get rid of the EPA, Dept. of Education, Commerce, FDA, Dept. of Agriculture and a number of other gov't agencies that are the backbone of keeping some semblance of order in this huge complicated society we live in. Hopefully, he aint next. . .

Palin has recently stated that it's not too late to get into the race. Oh please, oh please, oh please. I would so love to see her enter the fray at this point. Wow, would that be some monumental buffoonery or what?

Huntsman? This guy is about as dynamic as an old possum. Aint gonna happen.

My hope is that "santorum" will whip it good and froth to the top and take the lead for a while. Oh what fun that would be.

Sadly, or hell, for the better entertainment wise, all this is wrapped up in christian mysticism and extremist nationalism. Either of which is poison. . . combine them together and take a look at the middle east.

So stay tuned, Newt is slipping, Paul is trending positive and the republican electorate has GOT to be wringing their hands thinking "WTF?!" and ready to grasp at anything that comes along that even has the slightest scent of a candidate that can possibly compete with the current sitting President of the United States. . . and let's face it, they know in their hearts that once again, the democrat president has come along and saved this country from the absurdity of another failed republican administration. Obama is to the devastation wrought by the Bush administration what Clinton was to that perpetrated by the Reagan-Bush fiasco. They both brought order and hope to a catastrophic condition left to them to fix by a failed republican administration. Will the Amurrykkkin voters realize this or will they again vote against the best interests of the country and themselves?

Thanksgiving Message
Hello my friends.
Here in America it's Thanksgiving. It's a time for families to gather, be grateful for their fortune, however large or small it may be, and feast. We should enjoy our family and celebrate our personal triumphs and tragedies.

It should also be a time to reflect upon what has happened between today and when people from Europe first set foot upon this great land. If you are of European descent, it's not YOUR fault that our ancestors raped, pillaged, stole and committed genocide against the native population, but it is your responsibility to recognize and be aware of what transpired before we came to be here. In that awareness, perhaps we can recognize the ongoing oppression perpetrated by those who find themselves in positions of authority and rule. We can recognize and speak out against the third world conditions to which many Native American people have been relegated.

Sometimes, it only takes one person to speak up and voice concern when injustice occurs. A single voice raised with or against another single voice can sometimes make a difference. If we are grateful for what we have, and humbly accept our good fortune, we can also be a voice for reason and justice.

So be happy on this day of thanks and celebrate family, friends and good fortune, but never ever forget the past, for those who do, are doomed to repeat it with all its horrors.

Watching Cain self destruct is really hilarious. Now don't get me wrong, if he was some low level gov't servant who got accused of some silly little inappropriate remark ended up losing his pension and job I'd be very sympathetic, but this is some billionaire right wing religious fundamentalist who thinks he ought to be put in a position to legislate his brand of twisted religious morality on the rest of us. Which is: Go ahead and sin, but deny everything and it's ok to say "I don't remember." Sorry Hermy, that only worked for Ronald Raygun.

So like I said, it's downright enjoyable watching this holier-than-thou prick who thinks he is so morally superior succumb to the temptations of the flesh and end up being politically destroyed because of it.

Now, if I were running for office and a bunch of the women I've sexually harassed in my lifetime came forward, I'd send them all greeting cards, tell the world whatever I could remember about the situation (I was usually never one to harass those who didn't harass me first) and then get on with the campaign. I suspect the overwhelming majority of voters would shrug their shoulders and come to the realization of "yes, he IS human" and "well, he has always admitted he's an asshole."

Hilariously, Squirmin Herman is denying everything. He's denying he knew these women and he's making absurd statements like: "I have never acted inappropriately toward anyone." What a total asshat. Somebody needs to tell this bozo the clown that his act has ended and escort him off the stage.

So the GOP keeps presenting these extreme right wing whack jobs who keep self destructing like mentally challenged participants in an college quiz bowl competition (I mean really, could you imagine any of them in a college quiz bowl?). How many of them will it take before the moderate faction of the GOP rises up like some kind of phoenix from the ashes and says loudly and clearly "ENOUGH!" Will the real GOP with real traditional conservative values which I can sometimes talk to and embrace and at least live with in peace please stand up and show us your true colors? Will you guys please get off your asses and give us a candidate that we don't have to get out the razor blades if elected?

What did you say? Aw come on, there has to be. Really? There is no moderate faction of the GOP? You mean they're all a bunch of whacked out right wing religious fundies or at least cater to that faction? Oh my. You mean there isn't a group of conservatives who embrace the Eisenhower or even the Goldwater philosophy of gov't and social progress? That's kinda scary.

Putting an end to corpo-fascism

Taxes are lower than they've been in over 60 years. We're spending less on traditional "welfare" programs than we have since before the 60s. Still, all we hear from the republican candidates is bullshit about cutting taxes and cutting entitlement programs. WTF do these mother fuckers want? I suspect they want to be able to compete with the Chinese on our soil. That means turning the middle class into serfs just slightly above slave status. I'm sick of their corporate bullshit and I hope the proles are finally getting fed up with it as well.

I've got a simple solution to bringing manufacturing BACK to America. It's called Tariffs. . . BIG tariffs.

If you are a corporation operating in America it will become difficult for you to manufacture overseas and then import those goods for sale in America. We're talking really big tariffs. Corporations that manufacture onshore and have been doing so all along will be given big tax breaks in accordance with their degree of job creation. Companies like New Balance will win big, Nike will lose big.

I'm all for global economy and markets, but we've got to take care of our people. If cheap foreign products are putting Americans out of work then lets make really good domestic products that people around the world will want. Let's keep the crap out of our markets unless it can compete in a way other than price point.

The only thing standing in the way of this is corporate greed. The pricks and traitors who run America's corporations only want to increase profits. They don't care how they do it or who dies in the process. It's time for the government of, by and for the people to step in and protect the people. We've been protecting the corportions for too long and swallowing the jizz they've been spewing for too long.

I'm not talking compromise here or some program that throws the public a bone and allows the corporations to continue raping and pillaging the masses. I'm talking about hard controls and tariffs on imports. I'm talking about real wage controls and profit margins. We'll have no more of $100 million dollar CEO salaries in this country while workers are being laid off or at any other time.

It's a new world. Corporations have pushed too hard and taken it too far. It's time to push back and push back hard or else this country and the world in general will not survive with a civilized and flourishing human occupancy for many more generations.

So dictators have fallen in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. Getting rid of dictators is always a good thing. What's next? Each revolution was accompanied by the clear outcrys of "Allah is great!" The people who are now leading thee countries until elections can be held, have all promised to "uphold muslim law." So have they traded in totalitarianism for theocracy? What is more irrational? Which will be more oppressive? Will these places end up with clerics and ayatolahs in charge?
Congratulations, you're free to be oppressed and confined by islamic law now. How refreshing.
Looks like a classic case of 'the inmates have taken over the insane asylum.' I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It's been an interesting couple of months watching each new GOP candidate rise and fall like penny ante crack dealers on some rat infested low rent urban street corner. Each one has come out of the gate with their teeth bare ready to take a big bite out of the big dog in the White House, but in succession each one ends up squeaking in the corner like a shit house mouse. Every time one rises to the top the question becomes "Can Obama beat this guy/gal?" Well, it looks like he doesn't have to. The fucked up mess called the republican party, and by "fucked up mess I mean" the self fellating, shit eating, scumbags who guzzle the jizz of the pricks who run corporate Amurkkka, seems to be capable of beating no one but themselvs and their own puds. What a bunch of ignorant fucktards. Every candidate has taken a stand that placates the extremists on the right who call themselves teabaggers (see definition in urbandictionary.com for "teabagging"). When they do the extremists on the right, meaning; the mainstream republican party, gather around and praise their new leader like twelve year old teeny boppers at a Justin Beiber mall appearance. So why is the question "can Obama beat this or that GOP douch bag?" Why isn't the question "can this GOP douch bag beat Obama?"
Well, it seems irrational now doesn't it? There seems to be a lot of irrationality and lack of logic in the minds of political analysts and the voting public these days. Just like the teabaggers who rose up because they believed that Obama had "taxed [them] enough already" when in fact Obama has done nothing but lower taxes, and just like the teabaggers who scream "fascism" and "dictator" at the Obama administration but remained silent when Bush and Co. pushed for "the patriot act." And just like the tea baggers who were shocked at the spending the Obama administration pushed for and enacted to rescue the US economy but never whimpered a sound when Bush and Co. enacted sednig levels that had never been seen before or since, the protests against the Obama administration and the rhetoric from the mainstream press seem illogical.
I'm wondering, could there be reasons other than the ones being proposed as to why all the right wingers hate Obama and call him so many derogatory names. Could there be reasons other than logic as to why this president has received less respect than any president ever? IS it possible that the republican party and the other puppets of corporate Amurkkka in the media could be prompted to have a racist agenda? Yes, I said RACIST you bunch of blind, head in hole hiding ignorant mother fuckers! Take a look. Their rhetoric makes no sense to anyone paying attention to fact. Their lack of agreement with democrat policy and that of the Obama administration is fanatical and borders on hysterical. FACE FACTS! These mother fuckers don't like having a negro running the show. They have lived their lives believing that every black person in America is below them. Sure, they see black people in positions of power and authority, but they excuse that with snarky ignorant comments about equal opportunity and 'white people losing jobs jest becuz that guy is black,' when the fct of the matter is "that guy' probably worked twice as hard and twice as long as the white guy standing next to him to get where he is at. Sure, many of us are pissed because Obama turned out to NOT be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ who was about to save the world and the United States of Amerryca from itself. Yea, at least we wanted to have our environmental, economic, social and international diplomatic problems all fixed and tucked away in a disposable container by now. We wanted total and complete parity in the workplace and in society for everyone. We knew he would make all men strong and handsome and all women beautiful and all babies healthy and happy. Well, that didn't happen, so get over it.

Now the question you have to ask yourself is, "who ya gonna vote for?" Some twisted right wing whack job who panders to the lunatic fringe, and by lunatic fringe I mean every right wing republican white assed racist mother fucker with an opinion, or are you going to vote for the intellectual, rational and reasonable man who, despite his short comings is trying to enact a more progressive agenda for the United States of America and push us away from the rabis ignorance of the radical right.

If you are ready to throw in the towel and watch America accelerate it's long flow down the drain, then go for one of those teabagging morons. If not, shut the fuck up for now with the criticism and idle threats of non support and get behind the only candidate that has any sense whatsoever. NOW!

A terrorist threat! Be afraid!

According to an article in Reuters, on 09/11/11, a passenger jet was given military escort and diverted for "suspicious activity." Here is a description of said "suspicious tivity."

The three passengers were sitting in the same row of the airplane, but did not know each other, Berchtold said. One of the men got up to use the restroom during the flight because he was not feeling well and the other man did the same, she said.
Berchtold said the FBI wanted to dispel media reports that there had been sexual activity on the airplane.
"At no time were any two people in the bathroom at the same time, and the three individuals who were questioned were totally cooperative with us ... and they were never uncooperative with the flight crew," Berchtold said.

Two men went to the bathroom. AND, there was no sexual activity because they went into different bathrooms. Thank god for the vigilance of those on the airplane who pointed out this highly suspicious activity. Where would we be without all this anti-terrorist activity.

As stated by Mr. Weaver below, Bin Laden got what he wanted. This country has become totally fucked up.

That horrible day in Sept., 2001. . .

Back when I was in HS, we used to go down to NYC on weekends. A buddy of mine had music classes every Sat. moerning, so he would drive and I'd just go with him and hang out. Quite a few ties I found myself down on the lower west side staring up at the incredible towers they were building. It was called "The World Trade Center" and it was going to be the tallest building in the world. Not just one, but TWO identical towers. The top few floors were always wrapped in yellow plastic and over the months, that yellow plastic got higher and higher until it was so fucking high up you could hardly believe it. They were amazing structures to see, but back then, we were flying spaceships to the Moon where 10 years before, they were still not flying jets into Laguardia Airport, so amazing things were almost standard faire for the time. We expected such things. and like going to the Moon, I was fascinated with the Twin Towers. I'd walk down West Side Drive and just stare up at them. For decades after that, every time I went to NYC, I'd look downtown and eye the World Trade Center. They stood out like giant monuments on the greatest urban skyline in the world.

when I saw one of them burning that day ten years ago I was sick. I couldn't believe it. Then incredibly, the other one was attacked. Till that point, no one was sure what was going on. Then, as we watched in horror, the first tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. The TV announcer didn't know what was happening, but it was obvious to me that the tower has collapsed. I could not believe what I had just seen and I never felt such a horrible feeling inside of me. The tower had collapsed and I was sure there had to be many thousands of people inside who were being crushed before my eyes. Then the second one went. Twice the horror and the feeling inside was wretched. I thought I was going to vomit so I ran to the bathroom. When I got there I sat down and cried like a little baby. I never felt such despair in my life. All those people vanished and those beautiful towers that I loved as icons of greatness, gone. It was perhaps the worse day of my life. I know it was the worse feeling I ever had inside of me.

Whenever I think of that day I think of those towers collapsing and the true horror that I felt inside myself. I don't have nightmares anymore about, but that nasty feeling creeps in now and then. I can only imagine how those who were there felt. I can only imagine the horror of those who watched, knowing that perhaps their loved one was inside those building.

I later learned that more people from my own hometown died at The World Trade Center than from any place outside of NYC. I know and have met many who had friends, co-workers and relatives who died there.

So here we are ten years later and sometimes it seems like only yesterday that it happened. Hard to believe that it's been ten years, but now, everywhere I look there are signs all over the place saying "Never Forget," and pictures of the burning tower posted all over the place.

OK, so here's all I really want to say:
I've been trying to forget for ten years. I've been trying not to relive that day for ten years. So, why don't you people with your signs and your superficial patriotic bullshit just take it all and shove it up your fucking asses and shut the fuck up!

Rick Perry's batshit crazy plan for America. . . with Sagacious commentary

1. Abolish lifetime tenure for federal judges by amending Article III, Section I of the Constitution.

The nation's framers established a federal court system whereby judges with "good behavior" would be secure in their job for life. Perry believes that provision is ready for an overhaul.

"The Judges," reads Article III, "both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."

Perry makes it no secret that he believes the judges on the bench over the past century have acted beyond their constitutional bounds. The problem, Perry reasons, is that members of the judiciary are "unaccountable" to the people, and their lifetime tenure gives them free license to act however they want. In his book, the governor speaks highly of plans to limit their tenure and offers proposals about how to accomplish it.

"'[W]e should take steps to restrict the unlimited power of the courts to rule over us with no accountability," he writes in Fed Up! "There are a number of ideas about how to do this . . . . One such reform would be to institute term limits on what are now lifetime appointments for federal judges, particularly those on the Supreme Court or the circuit courts, which have so much power. One proposal, for example, would have judges roll off every two years based on seniority."

So Rick Perry knows better than our founding fathers. The fathers expected the judges to grow and develop a profound wisdom in their positions. They didn't expect them to become great jurists in six month and serve a two year term. They expected them to become truly great jurists over a long period of service which would be the culmination of a long judicial career. The founding father knew what they were doing and 230 years of experience has proven them right.

2. Congress should have the power to override Supreme Court decisions with a two-thirds vote.

Ending lifetime tenure for federal justices isn't the only way Perry has proposed suppressing the power of the courts. His book excoriates at length what he sees as overreach from the judicial branch. (The title of Chapter Six is "Nine Unelected Judges Tell Us How to Live.")

Giving Congress the ability to veto their decisions would be another way to take the Court down a notch, Perry says.

"[A]llow Congress to override the Supreme Court with a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate, which risks increased politicization of judicial decisions, but also has the benefit of letting the people stop the Court from unilaterally deciding policy," he writes.

Everyone (except Rick Perry) learned in the 6th grade about our system of checks and balances. Each branch of gov't has limited power. Here Mr. Perry wants to give the legislature the power to make laws AND the ability to decide the constitutionality of those laws. Do we really want these elected yahoos to be deciding what is and isn't constitutional?
This is an insane idea and as far as I'm concerned goes against the very foundation of our country.

3. Scrap the federal income tax by repealing the Sixteenth Amendment.

The Sixteenth Amendment gives Congress the "power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." It should be abolished immediately, Perry says.

Calling the Sixteenth Amendment "the great milestone on the road to serfdom," Perry's writes that it provides a virtually blank check to the federal government to use for projects with little or no consultation from the states.

And do what for revenue to run the gov't? Increase taxes on corporations? I suspect he's all for removing corporate taxes. This is simply ridiculous.

4. End the direct election of senators by repealing the Seventeenth Amendment.

Overturning this amendment would restore the original language of the Constitution, which gave state legislators the power to appoint the members of the Senate.

Ratified during the Progressive Era in 1913 , the same year as the Sixteenth Amendment, the Seventeenth Amendment gives citizens the ability to elect senators on their own. Perry writes that supporters of the amendment at the time were "mistakenly" propelled by "a fit of populist rage."

"The American people mistakenly empowered the federal government during a fit of populist rage in the early twentieth century by giving it an unlimited source of income (the Sixteenth Amendment) and by changing the way senators are elected (the Seventeenth Amendment)," he writes.

Wow, legislation without representation. Who would these new grand and elite senators be? The captains of industry? Religious leaders? Other agenda ladened extremists? Wow, this is amazing and thoroughly unAmerican.

5. Require the federal government to balance its budget every year.

Of all his proposed ideas, Perry calls this one "the most important," and of all the plans, a balanced budget amendment likely has the best chance of passage.

"The most important thing we could do is amend the Constitution--now--to restrict federal spending," Perry writes in his book. "There are generally thought to be two options: the traditional 'balanced budget amendment' or a straightforward 'spending limit amendment,' either of which would be a significant improvement. I prefer the latter . . . . Let's use the people's document--the Constitution--to put an actual spending limit in place to control the beast in Washington."

A campaign to pass a balanced budget amendment through Congress fell short by just one vote in the Senate in the 1990s.

Last year, House Republicans proposed a spending-limit amendment that would limit federal spending to 20 percent of the economy. According to the amendment's language, the restriction could be overridden by a two-thirds vote in both Houses of Congress or by a declaration of war.

So what happens when a huge natural disaster occurs such a what happened in Japan this spring? What if Yellowstone exploded. A horrible drought? War? How about just lean economic times when we need to be taking care of the citizenry?

6. The federal Constitution should define marriage as between one man and one woman in all 50 states.

Despite saying last month that he was "fine with" states like New York allowing gay marriage, Perry has now said he supports a constitutional amendment that would permanently ban gay marriage throughout the country and overturn any state laws that define marriage beyond a relationship between one man and one woman.

"I do respect a state's right to have a different opinion and take a different tack if you will, California did that," Perry told the Christian Broadcasting Network in August. "I respect that right, but our founding fathers also said, 'Listen, if you all in the future think things are so important that you need to change the Constitution here's the way you do it'.

In an interview with The Ticket earlier this month, Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said that even though it would overturn laws in several states, the amendment still fits into Perry's broader philosophy because amendments require the ratification of three-fourths of the states to be added to the Constitution.

Like the gay marriage issue, Perry at one time believed that abortion policy should be left to the states, as was the case before the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade. But in the same Christian Broadcasting Network interview, Perry said that he would support a federal amendment outlawing abortion because it was "so important...to the soul of this country and to the traditional values [of] our founding fathers."

The Sukhoi T-50, developed collaboratively by Russia and India, appeared at the MAKS 2011 air show in Zhukovsky, outside Moscow. . . .

The article from the state-run media source says the Sukhoi T-50 cost the two governments about $6 billion to develop, with India shouldering about 35% of the cost. It is intended to match the U.S. F-22 raptor.

They also dispel some big myths about the Tea Party being economic in nature rather than what it actually is: a re-branded, repurposed version of the same old Christian Right. This may seem familiar to AlterNet readers--but still, it's good to have the numbers and the mainstream attention to highlight such a crucial truth.

Here's the juiciest nugget from professors David E. Campbell and Robert D. Putnam in the Times, one which encapsulates the Tea Party's growing unpopularity with a vivid comparison or two (emphases mine):

Of course, politicians of all stripes are not faring well among the public these days. But in data we have recently collected, the Tea Party ranks lower than any of the 23 other groups we asked about — lower than both Republicans and Democrats. It is even less popular than much maligned groups like “atheists” and “Muslims.” Interestingly, one group that approaches it in unpopularity is the Christian Right.

Bradford Wells, a U.S. citizen, and Anthony John Makk, a citizen of Australia, were married seven years ago in Massachusetts. They have lived together 19 years, mostly in an apartment in the Castro district. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services denied Makk's application to be considered for permanent residency as a spouse of an American citizen, citing the 1996 law that denies all federal benefits to same-sex couples.

NEW YORK (AP) — Pat Buchanan says he didn't mean to slur President Barack Obama by referring to him as "your boy" during a discussion with Al Sharpton.
The former GOP presidential candidate and current MSNBC analyst appeared on "Morning Joe" Wednesday to explain remarks he made on that network's Sharpton show 12 hours earlier. Buchanan was discussing Obama's political strength with Sharpton when he referred to Obama as "your boy."

Rep. Lamborn likens Obama to a "tar baby"

"Tar Baby" -- from time to time, this ugly racially charged phrase has come up in our political discourse. Most often, the term is applied to a situation or a thing. John McCain, for example, used it to describe divorces. Likewise, Mitt Romney used it to describe the Big Dig. In both instances, the Republican leaders apologized for using such a loaded word -- even though they hadn't used it to describe an actual person.

The same cannot be said for Representative Doug Lamborn (R-CO), who used the term to describe President Obama in a statewide radio interview on Friday. You can listen to that interview here, which we examined on my KKZN-AM760 radio show this morning. Here's the key excerpt:

LAMBORN: Even if some people say "well, the Republicans should have done this, or should have done that," they will hold the President responsible. Now, I don't even want to be associated with him, it's like touching a, a tar baby and you get it...you know you're stuck and you're part of the problem and you can't get away.

It has been questioned whether the term "tar baby" is always a racist term. In 2006, Ta-Nehisi Coates explored this issue in Time magazine. "Is tar baby a racist term?" he asked. "Like most elements of language, that depends on context. Calling the Big Dig a tar baby is a lot different than calling a person one." In this case, that context is quite clear.

This, of course, doesn't absolve McCain and Romney, who plead ignorance to the term's racial implications and then promptly apologized. But it is to say that in Lamborn's case, the ignorance plea would be absurd because he explicitly used the term to describe a black person.

Tellingly, this openly derogatory epithet comes from not just any old politician. Lamborn is a United States congressman from Colorado Springs -- one of the most conservative Tea-Party-loving districts in America. In the hard-core right-wing political circles he runs in, describing a black person as a "tar baby" is probably more than acceptable -- it may even be celebrated, especially when aimed at a political opponent like President Obama.

Holy fucking shit!? Is this dumb fuck moron for real or did some leftist propaganda machine make this shit up? What kind of human being would make such a statement in this day and age? On top of it, he writes a letter to the president that is so shallow and pseudo apologetic it's pitiful:

Let's provide universal health insurance.
Once done, it's not an invasion of privacy for a certified provider to weigh you.
If they find you are obese, they put you on a program to lose weight. We're not talking boot camp here, but just good sense.
You will be provided with all the help you could possibly need from mental health counseling to shopping advise. The program will even go so far as to go shopping with you and go into your home and help you cook healthy. You will be required to log all caloric input to your body. That will be easy also as it will be done by computer that will automatically download to a central system and to your provider.

This will all be gradual, but with goals in mind.
If after a certain length of time you have made no progress toward getting your health under control, you will be unplugged from the system and only provided with emergency health care which will consist of little more than "comfort measures only."

With this program, we not only lead the person to water, but we provide extreme measures that encourage, help and motivate them to drink.

Same type of program applies for tobacco, alcohol and drug addicts.

Five Republicans joined every Democrat in the 57-40 vote killing the measure, which calls for transforming Medicare into a program in which future beneficiaries — people now 54 years old and younger — would be given a subsidy to purchase health insurance rather than have the government directly pay hospital and doctor bills.

So what would this bill have really done? It would have given all medicare money to private corporations. Those who bought their insurance with these "Vouchers" would have received the lowest level of care available. Those with the vouchers and another $2k to spend per month on healthcare would receive the finest treatment in all the land. This would have created a two teared healthcare system in America with separate hospitals and other facilities for the two classes and even different doctors. DOs and MDs from local less accredited med schools would work in one level of facilities and MDs from the finer schools would work in the higher level healthcare facilities. The entire complex would be run by corporations whose sole purpose would be to make as much profit as possible. IF that thought doesn't terrify you, then you are not thinking.
When is America going to get tired of these corporate whores taking shots at the very fabric of our society? When are we going to get tired of all our resources going into the pockets of the corporate elite uber rich?

But sooner or later the outlandish appeal wears thin and American voters return to the middle of the road and once again begin voting for steady, reasonable candidate.
Today we have an interesting and perhaps unique condition. One of the major parties has gone almost totally over to the side of a fringe group that probably wouldn't have gotten more than a mention had it not been for their extreme hatred, vile rhetoric and obvious racist agenda. It seems like every republican from the hill on down has embraced the outlandish of the TeaBaggers and now that the fires have cooled and the American public is done playing stupid extreme politics what are they to do? Well, I suspect they will have to look in the only place where calm and moderation has been consistently a part of the agenda. They are going to be voting for democratic candidates. Yes, even the republican moderates which has traditionally made up the majority of that party will be voting democrat in the next few election cycles. OK, so you want ot join the ranks of those who want to cut the national debt. I applaud you for that, afterall, I am a fiscal conservative, but could I just give you a small piece of information that might help you get a grip on what the real problem is with our spending problem and cash flow issues in this country. . .

Here's the first: Iraq and Afghanistan. It's real simple. $1.5 billion per day being spent in two wars we have no business being in. GET US THE FUCK OUTTA THERE LIKE YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO DO, ASSHOLE!!! It'll save us over $500 billion a year!

Ok, here's the second clue for you (I thought you were smart. Do you really need a dumb bubba like me giving you clues?): TAX THE RICH!: That's right, take away their loop holes. Make them pay a little higher percentage than the working class. Make it so that companies like GE and Exxon-Mobil actually pay taxes instead of paying no taxes and then getting "rebates." WTF is wrong with you for not addressing that problem to the American people, most of whom are living pay check to pay check.

There. Do those two things and our cash flow problems go away. No, really, have someone work up the numbers for you. I know you've gotta have a couple accountant types hanging around the White House.

Every historian with a grain of credibility agrees that the reason the south succeeded from the north was because they depended upon slavery for their economic interests and they didn't believe that African-American slaves were inferior and should not be free citizens.
Actually, anyone who has every taken a decent American history course or read a book on American history knows this. There was a movement in the United States at the time, especially in the north, to abolish the institution of slavery. IT was THE issue of mid 19th Century America. The nation was growing and the thing that was causing it the most growing pains was slavery. Google "dred scott."
So the south went traitorous and succeeded from the Union. They set up their own gov't and basically declared war on the United States of America. See, they set up a separate country and went to war against (began killing) the troops that were in that area of the mother country. That's treason of the worse kind.
They were defeated by the United States of America and the Union was reunited and preserved. From that era rose the American hero Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was an extremely strong man who was also extremely intellectual and did absolutely nothing and made no decisions without intense study of the facts and all sides of the issues. This trait on the part of this great man is one of the big factors in the fact that the United States exists today as a single whole nation. Imagine the chaos wed have if the southern states were a separate country. When would slavery have ended? How? What kind of sad socio-economic mess would we have in the SE corner of this part of the continent?

Civil War still divides Americans

When asked the reason behind the Civil War, whether it was fought over slavery or states' rights, 52 percent of all Americas said the leaders of the Confederacy seceded to keep slavery legal in their state, but a sizeable 42 percent minority said slavery was not the main reason why those states seceded. . .

When broken down by political party, most Democrats said southern states seceded over slavery, independents were split and most Republicans said slavery was not the main reason that Confederate states left the Union.
Republicans were also most likely to say they admired the leaders of the southern states during the Civil War, with eight in 10 Republicans expressing admiration for the leaders in the South, virtually identical to the 79 percent of Republicans who admired the northern leaders during the Civil War.

That's kind of incredible. I'm not surprised that 40% of southern whites sympathize more with the confederacy than the union. Afterall, they're southern whites, need we say more? But the fact that 25% of ALL Americans feel this way sorta knocks me around a little.
The real kicker however is that 80% of republicans "admire" the confederate leaders is scary. The confederate leaders were traitors of the worse kind. They should have been rounded up and shot at the end of the Civil War. Really, it would have alleviated a lot of the problems we have today. Instead, the south was allowed to carry on as if nothing had happened despite the fact that they were sworn enemies of the United States of America.

So now 80% of the republican party "admire" with those traitors and racists and while I hesitate to divide us along party lines, I have to ask what this says for the conservative elements in political America. Are they racist to the degree that they "admire" a faction that wanted to keep slavery in America? Is the racial issue what really drives them to "admire" the confederacy? How does that all apply to their gravitation toward movements like the "tea party" and other extremist right wing groups? Do they also "admire" the extremist right wing white supremist groups? Afterall, these are the modern day confederates.

Colorado police pepper-spray misbehaving boy, 8

He had just thrown a TV and chairs and was now trying to use a cart to bust through a door to an office where teachers had taken some young students for safety.
They called the police.
The officers found him with a foot-long piece of wood trim with a knife-like point in one hand and a cardboard box in the other.
"Come get me, f-----," he said.
When they couldn't calm him down, one squirted Aidan with pepper spray. He blocked it with the cardboard box.
A second squirt hit the youngster in the side of the head, and down he went, according to an account of the Feb. 22 standoff in a police report first obtained by KUSA-TV.

Worker Safety in America

Back when I was a young lad entering the corporate work-a-day world, we could do all sorts of crazy things to get the job done and we did. Sometimes we risked life and limb to perform tasks that were not worth risking life or limb or even toe nail.
By the time I retired from the corporate world, a worker couldn't wipe his ass without getting a permit signed off by two managers, three safety officers and a local constable. . . I exaggerate, but it was cumbersome. The up side is that while back when I entered the work force the old guys all had storied of being hurt and maimed on the job. I even remember a couple deaths at our company plants in the early years. By the 80s, most of that had stopped. You just had to work real hard at hurting yourself with all the OSHA regulations and company safety procedures in place. When I entered the wor force our safety manual was a pamphlet. When I left it was a 4" three ring binder that was constantly updated requiring sections to be replaced and added almost monthly.

All of that increased safety awareness was a result of gov't policy. OSHA made companies quit killing employees. They made it tough on companies when employees were hurt and required strict adherence to reporting procedures of safety records. Safety became a priority in the workplace because the gov't mandated that it would be.

Now, here in WV we have an acting governor that doesn't believe in workplace safety. In fact, he has gutted the only state agency that handles general workplace safety. Gee, I wonder who's paying his salary? certainly not the tax payers or the workers of the state. Who does that leave? One can only imagine what kind of payoff this low life political bottom feeder is receiving for wiping out the only state agency standing between WV corporations and a dangerous workplace. Nice job you back woods piece of shit.

Labor upset over Tomblin's cuts in workplace safety

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, acting as governor, recently cut funding by 75 percent for the Occupational Safety and Health program that inspects and regulates working conditions for state employees.
Created in 1987, the state OSHA program has never been fully funded. This year, state legislators voted to increase financial support for the program.

Earlier this year, state Labor Commissioner Dave Mullens said his agency needed $800,000 in startup money for OSHA enforcement, including salaries for 11 new field safety inspectors, office furniture and computers.

The House of Delegates passed legislation including that $800,000. The Senate reduced it to $400,000. Then Tomblin's line-item veto cut it down to $98,500, none of which can be used to hire safety inspectors.

Then we have the company that brought us the Gulf of Mexico oil rig disaster this past summer. The worse oil spill in history and the place where 11 workers were blown to pieces when the rig blew up.
The corporate executives of this company received huge "safety bonuses" for ""exemplary" safety record because it met or exceeded certain internal safety targets." Well, I guess those "safety targets" didn't include "don't kill any employees." In other words, employees are expendable. I'm wondering, just what were these safety targets? Let's see, they blew up an entire oil rig, so it couldn't have been about preservation of corporate material resources. They killed 11 Gulf oil rig workers, so it couldn't have been about preserving the lives of their workers. They had the worse oil spill in history, so it couldn't have been about adherence to environmental regulations. . . WTF?!

Transocean gives safety bonuses despite deaths

SAN FRANCISCO – Transocean Ltd. gave its top executives bonuses for achieving the "best year in safety performance in our company's history" — despite the explosion of its oil rig that killed 11 people and spilled 200 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
The company said in a regulatory filing that its most senior managers were given two thirds of their total possible safety bonus.
Transocean noted "the tragic loss of life" in the Gulf when the rig operated by BP PLC exploded last April. But it said the company still had an "exemplary" safety record because it met or exceeded certain internal safety targets concerning the frequency and severity of its accidents, according to the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
Safety accounts for a quarter of the executives' total cash bonuses. The total bonus for CEO Steve Newman last year was $374,062.
According to calculations by The Associated Press, the total value the company assigned to Newman's compensation package was $5.8 million.
That figure includes an $850,000 base salary — a 34 percent increase from the prior year; perquisites of $622,057, which includes housing and vacation allowances, among other things; and the $374,062 bonus. Also included in the figure are stock options valued at $1.9 million and deferred shares valued at $2 million when those awards were granted in March 2010.
Transocean's Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion on April 20 in the Gulf of Mexico killed 11 workers and set off the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history.
A commission appointed by President Barack Obama earlier this year said the explosion was caused by a series of time and money-saving decisions by Transocean, BP and oil services company Halliburton Inc. that created an unacceptable amount of risk.

We all saw the images; towns being leveled in a matter of seconds, vast areas of agriculture likewise being wiped out and contaminated with toxic debris. On top of all that, four critical nuclear reactors that still, after three weeks have not been brought under control with radioactive contamination reaching abnormal levels all the way to Tokyo and the surrounding area becoming dangerous with contamination in agricultural products and drinking water. It's a nightmare of the worse proportions right now in Japan.

So what's to be positive about? Well, plenty if you really take a look at how the Japanese people have handled this crisis. First off, there has been no looting and violence. I wonder what the reaction would have been had the coastline from Orange County to San Diego been devastated, or the Jersey Shore. The Japanese have reacted in a calm purposeful manner to this overwhelming crisis. They search for loved ones and share whatever they have in a communal fashion. Every report about the personal response to this horror is positive. Perhaps that's why the American news media is not doing a very good job of covering this crisis on a personal level. . . it would make us look really bad because everyone knows how Americans would respond.

When I read about the young woman who spent all her time looking for her best friend until her money was gone and she had to go back to work I wonder how many people in other places would have made their friend their top priority.

The NY Times describes the people as follows in a Mar. 25th editorial: "much is striking about Japan’s response to two weeks of serial disasters: the stoicism and self-sacrifice; the quiet bravery in the face of tragedy that seems almost woven into the national character."

What would our national character be in the face of such overwhelming tragedy?

There are no riots, jacked up food prices, hoarding, brazen politicians making political statements, or corporations blaming others. No, in Japan the president of the energy company that owned the nuclear facilities has been hospitalized with distress, high blood pressure and a rumored nervous breakdown. In America, corporate CEOs would have been cashing out and getting out.
Just think back to this past summer and the actions of politicians and corporate execs when BP blew the well in the Gulf. The response in itself was tragic.

Are we capable of such empathy?
I think that we as a nation need to contemplate who we are and how we act toward others and work to become more like the example that the Japanese have set for us and the whole world.

Let's look upon the Japanese people and realize that there is still hope in this world. . .that there are still people who are capable of being the best that humanity has to offer and then let's try and be like them.

1. We eliminate tax breaks for the rich. Then we increase the tax rates on the rich. Rich people make a whole fucking lot more money than the average Joe. They don't worry about having milk money or how long till the next paycheck. They can afford to pay more and the fact that they are enjoying the finest things that our society has to offer is reason enough for them to pay more.
That in itself will eliminate a lot of our debt worries.
2. Get the fuck out of Iraq and Afghanistan. We are spending tens of billions per month in those places. It is sucking us dry. STOP FUCKING DOING IT!

There, the national debt problem is solved. Go ahead, do the numbers. It works.

Healthcare:
1. Do above. Now we can afford a sane national healthcare program.
2. Make the focus of the national healthcare program preventative. Uh huh. You've got to take steps to get healthy and stay healthy or else you get CUT OFF! That's right, if you're an over bloated fat ass with type II diabetes and you refuse to do anything about the fact that you are an over bloated fat ass and guzzle ridiculous amounts of sweetened drinks and eat unhealthy fat and carb ladened foods then you get comfort measures only. We're not paying for hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of procedures to prolong your life. If you're too lazy to change your unhealthy habits, you die.
Same goes for smokers, drinkers, etc. There will be all the help possible available to you to quit partaking of these unhealthy life styles. Fat farms, rehabs, smoking clinics, you name it, it'll be available, but if you choose to not take advantage of those opportunities our valuable healthcare resources will not be provided to you.

There's your affordable healthcare.

Jobs:
1. Any corporation that moves jobs from the borders of the United States to some third world nation will receive no tax breaks of incentives. In fact, you will be taxed for a predetermined amount of time for every job you transfer overseas. Don't like it? Get the fuck outta here.
2. Companies that create jobs within the borders of the United States will receive tax incentives and breaks. They will have the full cooperation of the gov't in all their business provided that these jobs are good jobs that meet certain minimum benefit requirements as far as pay scale, time off, etc.
3. All gov't spending will be closely monitored. All good and service purchased by the gov't will be provided by U.S. based companies whenever possible. The gov't will help companies meet the requirements of the gov't for goods and services.
4. All companies doing business with the U.S. gov't will comply with certain standards of pay for EVERY worker in the company. The top salary in said companies cannot exceed a predetermined multiple of the lowest salary in the company.

There will be fair and equitable distribution of resources in this country while providing for a clear and defined system of class based upon monetary measures.
We don't need to be against yachts, private airplanes, mansions, etc., but no one needs to have all those things and then be able to afford one hundred more of them.

There are your jobs.

There is just one problems with all this. It eliminates the power that certain people in this country hold. It sorta removes the power elite from their pinnacle and integrates them into our society and regular members. That won't work.

See, this whole matrix that we're a part of is not reality. We fight amongst ourselves because THEY want us to fight amongst ourselves. As long as I'm screaming at you because you're a right wing jack wad and you're screaming at me because I'm some granola chewing dip shit, we don't stop and focus on who really has their boot on our throat. And as long as I'm focused on the poor chump next to me that's trying to get by just like me, THEY are free to pick my and your pocket.
THEy don't give a fuck about republicans and democrats, they just want it all. They don't want healthcare, it's too expensive and siphons money that THEY could be accumulating. THEY don't want us out of Iraq and Afghanistan. THEY are selling the gov't the goods and services they're using over there. Those 1.2 million dollar cruise missles are made by THEM. In an overhaul of air pollution regulations, the EPA said it found ways to control pollution at more than 200,000 industrial boilers, heaters and incinerators nationwide at a 50 percent cost savings to the companies and institutions that run them. Those operating large boilers that burn renewable fuels would not be required to install some expensive technologies, and only maintenance would be required for smaller boilers. That would cost $1.8 billion less each year than the original proposal, and still avert thousands of heart attacks and asthma cases a year, the agency said.

This isn't about "trimming cost." This is about giving corporations a free ride to spew as much pollutants as they want into the atmosphere when they burn their trash and produce steam.

Quite frankly, we need to elect a President in 2012 who will do a lot less: less meddling in the economy, less spending, less warrantless ransacking, less bailing out of Wall Street, less inflating, and less foreign aid and overseas intervention.

We need a President who will respect our Constitution, not someone who simply pays lip service to our traditions.

OK, where were these tea baggers when the republicans were in charge and our country was "beset with crippling debt, an out of control federal government, and a foreign policy that weakens our national defense and isolates us from the world?"

Was it ok for the Bush regime to do these things, but it's not ok for the Obama group to do it? At least the Obama group is trying to get us out of the foreign mess the republos got us into and took us farther into debt to save the country's economy (BTW: when is someone going to point out that our country would be in a depression had Obama group not done what they did?).

So you want a president who will do all those things you say in that little essay eh? Once again I ask: why were you not campaigning against Bush and Co. when they were doing those things you claim to deplore? Where the fuck were you tea baggers then?!?!

Scientist finds Gulf bottom still oily, dead

WASHINGTON – Oil from the BP spill remains stuck on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, according to a top scientist's video and slides that she says demonstrate the oil isn't degrading as hoped and has decimated life on parts of the sea floor.
That report is at odds with a recent report by the BP spill compensation czar that said nearly all will be well by 2012.
At a science conference in Washington Saturday, marine scientist Samantha Joye of the University of Georgia aired early results of her December submarine dives around the BP spill site. She went to places she had visited in the summer and expected the oil and residue from oil-munching microbes would be gone by then. It wasn't.

Remember back in the fall when everyone was talking about the "magic microbes" that were devouring the Gulf oil and making everything pristine and pure again? I do. and I remember saying on this forum that it was a crock of shit.

I spent all this afternoon out in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. It was exhilarating. It is one of the most beautiful place I know on Earth.

Huge parts of that enormous, vibrant cradle of life lie dead and in ruin. Like Prince William Sound in southern Alaska, which was devastated over 20 yrs ago by the Exxon Valdez tanker, the poison lies below the surface, but it leaches into the ecosystem every day killing as it does.

Meanwhile, who is prosecuting BP for the criminal negligence? Who is suing them and holding them accountable for the lives ruined and millions of oceanic and coastal creature killed, maimed and never given a chance?

This is a horrible tragedy that is being covered up and buried like the Gulf of Mexico itself.

The government of the United States is a government of, by and for the corporations. They are complicit in this ecological holocaust.

Piracy has always been handled with extreme prejudice. It is an intolerable act that civilized nations have NEVER put up with.
There is a good reason for dealing with it as such. On the high seas, sailors and passengers are alone and vulnerable. Any crazy mother fucker in an armed ship can pretty much take their pick of targets to overtake. Therefore, to keep ships at sea safe, piracy has never been something looked upon with any forgiveness and I certainly agree with that approach.

We are fucking around in Iraq and Afghanistan where we truly do not belong, but these piece of shit mother fuckers operating out of Somalia are taking over every kind of ship that might try to navigate the coastal waters from the tip of Africa to the East.

Despite that, they are saying it will take years to try this case.

Boy, 4, drowns in farm manure pit

LANCASTER, Pa. — Authorities say a 4-year-old boy apparently fell into a partially frozen liquid manure pit on his family's farm in central Pennsylvania and drowned.

Police say Josiah Martin was playing with two siblings and a neighbor child Saturday morning on the farm just outside New Holland when he wandered off. He was later found face-down in the 8-foot-deep pit and pronounced dead at the scene.

This is just plain sick. A horrible tragedy for some poor devastated farm family. . then the AP put it out on the news wires as a little curiosity piece. Kids die every day. Families are devastated by such deaths every day. Does it make national news? Apparently only if it has some kindergarten humor factor attached to it.

Here are the three most important votes the US Senate has had in the past few weeks.

1. A bill to extend the tax breaks to only those making $250,000 or less. That means the middle and working class maintain their tax breaks, but the rich go back to the low rate they were paying before 2004. Now really, wouldn't any democrat with even slightly progressive tendencies believe that in todays economy the super rich really ought to pay a little extra to help everything along? Right now we are at the lowest tax rate we've had in over 60 years. You'd have to go all the way back to before Eisenhower to find a lower tax rate. So why not get those who have much to pay a little more thn those who are struggling badly?
Not Joe Manchin. . . he voted against it. He wants the rich to keep getting richer and the poor to keep getting poorer.
Over and over it has been proven that tax breaks, tax incentives, etc DO NOT stimulate the economy. Think about it: what has happened to American jobs since Reagan started slahing taxes on the rich and corporations. What has happened to jobs since Bush the MoronMonkeyBoy slashed taxes for the rich to the lowest levels since 1958? We have lost entire secotrs of jobs. The middle class has been all but destroyed and our standard of living has declined. THAT is what tax breaks for the rich has gotten us. Has the market stabilized since Bush the Chimp handed out golden tax packages to his uber rich supporters? Nope, it crashed and many Americans lost their retirement funds after being talked into investing in the market back in the 90s and 00s.
Guess who got the money they lost. Yup, the super rich.
So FUCK YOU Joe Manchin for voting to continue ultra rich tax breaks. You are a little dick headed rich prick.

2.DREAM Act. This act is intended to give kids who grew up in the United states and graduated from college or successfully served in the United States military the honor of becoming United States citizens no matter how they got here. These are kids whose parents made the difficult decision to illegally enter this country so that they could provide for their children better than where they came from. This isn't a blanket amnesty policy like the right wing propaganda machine wants you to believe. This is for young men and women who grew up as Americans. Young men and women who know no other culture. They talk like Americans, act like Americans, they ARE American as my kids. So this DREAM act allows them to become citizens if they have clean records, serve in the military or graduate from college. WTF? Who can argue with that.
Well, a bunch of pricks in the United State Senate and our own freshman rigt wing jizz guzzling senator Joe Manchin. Oh, he didn't vote against it, he just didn't vote at all, which, in a vote against it. What a pussy footed prick. Three weeks in the senate and he's already not voting for political purposes. What kind of respect is that for those who elected him. . . to not vote on such an important issue. It just shows what a dirt bag politicians this little rich prick really is.

3.Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) Well, surely Joe the Creep Manchin voted on this one, right? Nope. In true panty waisted fashion which he so gracefully pursues, once again he passed on this one. Of course, for this one also, to not vote is to vote against.
Even though every study has shown that gays in the military is not a problem, our right wing homophobic dip shit of a senator voted against it, by not voting. He stepped up to the plate and told millions of young Americans that he thinks they are less than other young Americans just because they were born with a different sexual preference.
Ya know come to think of it, Bubba Joe does have certain effeminate qualities in many of his mannerisms. Maybe this is a vote of self loathing. I'm just thinking it's possible. . . not a sure thing, just possible.
This is the one that really burns my ass almost more than his DREAM non-vote and for the same reason.

Undercover investigation of Smithfield Foods reveals factory farm horrors

If you enjoy eating pork occasionally, you might not want to read any further. But you probably should -- especially as America waits to learn the fate of the almost universally hailed food-safety bill, which suddenly faces hurdles in Congress.
This week the Humane Society released the results of its undercover investigation of a Virginia pig farm that's owned by Smithfield Foods, the largest pork producer in the world. A Humane Society investigator spent a month inside the Waverly, Va., facility, armed with a hidden camera. Among the more disturbing findings was this:
Female breeding pigs were crammed inside "gestation crates" so small the animals could barely move for virtually their entire lives. The animals engaged in stereotypic behaviors such as biting the bars of crates, indicating poor well-being in the extreme confinement conditions. Some had bitten their bars so incessantly that blood from their mouths coated the fronts of their crates. The breeding pigs also suffered injuries from sharp crate protrusions and open pressure sores that developed from their unyielding confinement.

The pork industry is no better than any other meat factory industry and maybe worse since hogs seem to have a level of intelligence and cognizance beyond that of chickens or even cattle. Sadly they are treated like insects or bacteria. They are raised in horribly confined spaces. Unlike chickens, there is no movement to give them "free range" or "uncaged" lives (both of which are a farse, btw).
So please, if you can, know where your food comes from and the conditions under which it is raised. I know, at this point that is the pursuit of those who can afford to be discriminatory in their food selections. Hopefully that will cange in the near future.

BERWICK, Louisiana (WVLA) - A deer hunter captures a spooky image wandering through the Louisiana woods at night.

A hunter near Baton Rouge says he found this freaky photo on his deer stand camera.

The hunting camera was broken but the memory card was still there and so was this bizarre image.

It looks like a cross between a human and an animal, with long slender appendages and glowing eyes.

The hunter says he just hopes it's a vegetarian, if he runs into it in the woods again.

The cool thing about her is that she, as the youngest is the most well adjusted, happiest and has the best self esteem of all of them. She is as well rounded and talented as any of my children which makes her very well rounded and talented.
She's one of the best shots I know with a rifle and is a very respectable shot with a compound bow. She loves to hunt and fish and hang out in the woods and around the farm. When she walks around out here she is like a cat attentive and aware of every sight and sound. I don't know a better stalker.
But the senate republicans are telling me and her that she's not good enough to be in the military as she is.
It's starting to feel really personal.
You're telling me and my child she's not good enough to do whatever she's perfectly capable of doing?

Sec. of Defense Robert Gates says the time is now and let's do it before the courts force us to do it.

So what will the tea baggers in congress do? Sen. John McCain believes that DaDT is working and we should leave it alone. Many of the republicans in congress have come out strongly against any "gay rights."

Yes folks, bigotry and hate are still alive and well in Amurkkka. Those on the right prove it on a daily basis.

I am so sick of people of any persuasion, color, religion, beliefs, handicap, etc. being forced to defend themselves. It's just so fucking primitive. It's so damned ignorant and backwoods.

It will be something as fair and just as the Civil Rights Act. It will change people's perceptions of others making them more accepting and in turn better human beings. TSA says airlines providing more passenger data

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – All airline passengers on flights to, from and within the United States are being checked against U.S. government security watchlists, the Transportation Security Administration said Tuesday.
TSA said that all of the nearly 130 international carriers flying to and from the United States have begun collecting new data from passengers, including their full name, date of birth and gender, which are then checked against the lists, a program known as Secure Flight.
All domestic carriers began collecting that data in June.
"Secure Flight more effectively helps prevent misidentification of passengers who have similar names to those on the watchlists and then obviously helps better identify those who may be a known or suspected threat to aviation," TSA Administrator John Pistole told reporters.
The information is passed along for checks against the watchlists as soon as the data is received by the airline, he said. The checks were recommended by the 9/11 Commission that examined the 2001 attacks on the United States.
TSA hopes the program will help reduce complaints by passengers who have tried, but failed, to clear their names from databases.

Let's begin with the premise that no people, culture, religious, racial or ethnic group is by definition immoral. But if NPR's "Fresh Air" interview last week with the rapper Jay-Z about his new book Decoded is any indication, it's a message still lost on Terry Gross.. . .

Throughout her interview with Jay-Z, Gross kept returning the discussion to those places that reinforce the idea of Black culture as immoral and Black people as corrupt and/or corruptible. Such anti-Black arguments that once lived primarily in conservative public policy debates have now worked their way into national culture (especially in film, television, news media and politics) to the degree that these views are now widely accepted as the norm.

Here in America it's Thanksgiving. It's a time for families to gather, be grateful for their fortune, however large or small it may be, and feast. We should enjoy our family and celebrate our personal triumphs and tragedies.
It should also be a time to reflect upon what has happened between today and when people from Europe first set foot upon this great land. If you are of European descent, it's not YOUR fault that our ancestors raped, pillaged, stole and committed genocide against the native population, but it is your responsibility to recognize and be aware of what transpired before we came to be here. In that awareness, perhaps we can recognize the ongoing oppression perpetrated by those who find themselves in positions of authority and rule. We can recognize and speak out against the third world conditions to which many Native American people have been relegated.
Sometimes, it only takes one person to speak up and voice concern when injustice occurs. A single voice raised with or against another single voice can sometimes make a difference. If we are grateful for what we have, and humbly accept our good fortune, we can also be a voice for reason and justice.
So be happy on this day of thanks and celebrate family, friends and good fortune, but never ever forget the past, for those who do, are doomed to repeat it with all its horrors.

So I know this guy who had a really bad heart attack recently. Like most heart attack victims, he almost checked out. Luckily, he was close to a really good hospital that did all the things that really good hospitals do to get a heart back up and pumping well. Also luckily, he didn't go into full cardiac arrest. % minutes farther from the hospital or doctors who waited 5 minutes longer and they'd have been pulling the sheet over his head. He was circling the drain fast.
So now, after taking all sorts of wonder drugs and five hours of intricate surgery performed by some of the most gifted medical providers on the planet, he is in a good state of recovery. Who knows how long it will last, but they seem to have opened up his veins and his heart is in fairly good shape.
After all this, all he seems able to do is thank his "god":for taking such good care of him. "I have only my lord and savior to thank for my recovery."

Excuse me bozo, but how about those doctors and the wonders of modern medicine? Twenty years ago you'd have been pushing up daisys and your family would be getting on with their lives without your sorry fat ass. Where was your "lord and savior" when my dad died of an aortic aneurism twenty years ago? Today they'd have whipped him into an operating room, wrapped a piece of cheese cloth around that sucker and he'd have been good to go for another 20. I guess your dear lord and savior didn't know about that kind of shit back then huh?

Why don't you get on your fucking knees next time you go to your doctor's office and thank the medical providers for what they did. How about spending five minutes thinking about the wonders of modern science that let them open up your sorry fat chest, manipulate the tiny veins that supply blood to your heart and get it all working again. Spend half a minute being grateful for modern pharmacology that was able to loosen up those clots and restore blood to your pitiful ungrateful heart muscle preventing radical damage of it's cardiac capability.

After all, if he's responsible for your recovery, who's responsible for your demise? An item in todays headlines says: "The Growing Burden of Teacher Pensions"

It's a "burden" those teacher pensions. Yea, yea, sure we hired them. We promised them pensions, but it's a "burden" to live up to that. . . uh. . . ok, I'm gonna go ahead and use the "R" word that nobody wants to hear these days . . . RESPONSIBILITY.
So now we find ourselves in a little bit of a financial jam and all of a sudden it's a "burden." I guess we're gonna let corporations who find themselves in a financial jam reclassify their responsibilities as a "burden." Oh wait, we're already letting them do that. Ok, how about this. . . I run up $10k on a credit card and then I can't pay because of a "financial jam (like $10k on a credit card)," can I classify it as a burden and not take responsibility for it? Well, according to some advertisements I see, I'll only have to pay "pennies on the dollar!"
WTF is wrong with the proles and this country in general? Will we ever get back to where people, government, and corporation take responsibility for their actions. Where they live up to their commitments?
Maybe if we developed a little bit of a culture of responsibility in this country we'd all be able to live a lot better lives.
Pay your debts. Know how you're going to pay them before you take them out or just don't take them out. The same general idea goes for gov't and business.
If you make a promise, live up to it. There are extenuating circumstances, but a little bit of financial hardship is not one of them. Serious illness, death, horrible disaster yea, but normal things that one ought to expect in life are not reasons to back out of your responsibility.

That appears to be the only way, said David Axelrod, that middle-class taxpayers can keep their tax cuts, given the legislative and political realities facing Obama in the aftermath of last week's electoral defeat.

'Rude Pundit' to talk at W.Va. State

"Rude Pundit" blogger Lee Papa will speak at West Virginia State University on Thursday.

Papa is a professor of drama and playwriting in the Department of English at the College of Staten Island's English department. His one-man performance "The Rude Pundit in the Year of Living Rudely" sold out at the New York International Fringe Festival.

The free event will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the university's Davis Fine Arts Building, room 104.
