Economics and weight loss. . . huh?

Economic Stimulus. . .
OK, I don't like this shit. $1 trillion dollars to do what?! Who's going to pay for this? Are we gonna turn up the money printing presses? How much is THIS going to cost my g'chidren?
So it sucks at that price, but The Prez seems to think it's totally necessary so let's get it done. Fuck those republicans. They've shown their true colors. They're NOT going to be at all cooperative, so just steam roll their ass and get on with it. If this is what we need, the sooner the better. Let's see the roads fixed, the bridges rebuilt, etc., etc.

Wall Street and the Dow. . .
Check it out. . . the DJIA has been sitting just above 8000 for the past few months. Doesn't it look like it's hit a bottom? MAybe things have stabilized? Portfolios have pretty much stabilized. Yea, I've lost my ass as have many others, but are we looking at further losses? It doesn't feel like it to me. I don't know shit about the market, but have been watching it for the past 40 years or so. What do you think?

Heat wave!!!!!
Wow. It was over 60° today. More of the same tomorrow and for the rest of the week. That's what I love about WV. . . 5° three days ago and 60° today.

Low Carb bust. . .
I'm done with low carb. I've hit a bottom. I can't seem to drop below 205. Stuck. Besides, how long can you really stick with eating meats. . . often smoked fatty pork based meats? Yea, I fired up the smoke yesterday, cooked up a sirloin pork roast and a couple pounds of Italian sausages. Had a big pig-out and now it's over. Time to switch gears. Time to start counting calories.
How low can I go? 1000 calories a day? A few eggs, a bag od spinach and a bunch of broccoli? That's less than 1000 cals. Sadly, one decent size cheese burger with a few trimmings is over 650 calories. but I'm used to having a limited diet, so maybe I should go to the other extreme and just do veggies for a few weeks. 1000 cals of veggies per day. We'll see.
But hey, a little over 15 lbs. in the past month aint too bad. Another 15 over the next 6 weeks would make me really happy. . . but I just don't think I can do it anymore on fat and protein.

Sagacious,
The Senate and House has been controlled by the Democrats for about a month now. I voted for a Democratic president. They don't need one, not one Republican vote, so what is the holdup? Simple answer here.

Sagacious, what about doing a fast? You could do a juice fast or a raw food kind of thing just to kind of get over the hump and detox. It's what I intend to do once I'm done nursing.

Chi-chi mama, That's not a bad idea. Thanks.
How long do you recommend?

Rainy, What? Political fear? Lack of balls?
Why isn't Obama over there beating them on the head?

The plan is now up to 42% of tax cuts! I can't express how pissed off I am at this. Most of the spending that went to tax cuts were supposed to aid state and local governments.

This is huge guys. Even the conservative economists know that this stimulus is not going to do the job - at all. Now the Republicans can declare the Dems failed us and can win back seats in the years to come.

For a little perspective, Bush got a 1.35 TRILLION tax cut (mostly to the fucking rich) passed easily in 2001. Do you remember any gd debate about that? And now, we can't pass a 780 billion stimulus to create jobs?? Just grotesque!

Sagacious, I agree with Crystal: increasing tax cuts over infrastructure is really bad. Bush gave tax cuts to folks, and they just tried to catch up with the bills.

Obama and his folks already know that this level of tax cuts won't do it. In response to criticism from democrats, Obama's folks tried to shift 20 billion from tax cuts to infrastructure, which tends to create more jobs. But Sen. McConnell and those Republican jerks balked at that.

So this is not about getting us out of the economy for McConnell and his folks. This is politics to make Obama and the dems fail.

One point about this stimulous package that pundits don't mention is that it's not just the size of it. It's the fact that a lot is going to low-income people for social security ($300 per person), welfare, and extended unemployment insurance. In other words, Republicans don't give a damn about down-and-out folks. They just can't come out and say it.

Regarding the diet, you've moved down from 224 to 205. Maybe you should stay at a maintenance level of 205 for a month or so. Sometimes, the body needs time to rest. Blessings.

Saggy, The low carb thing was bad for me. Too much diabetes in the family to risk it. We upped the veggie intake and started going for extra helping of what we call super poo food: cabbage, a nice celery salad, beans (like a pot of beans, not just the green bean side dish though they help), and peas (glorius peas how I love them in all their seratonin increasing forms). Sure we go through more tp than we used to, but we're seeing some drops.

I think the body gets used to diets the way it gets used to drugs. Ya gotta change it up a bit here and there.

My Curmy swears by his single Metamucil cookie a day on top of a healthy diet. He says they even taste good.

I am so sick of all the politics that I give up! There doesn't seem to be a shittin' thing I can do about it besides bitch so, I think I will just sit back and see how it unfolds for a while.

I think the juice Idea is the way to go. Well, if you already have a juicer or don't mind the expense of buying one. You will also get burnt out on juicing too but it is a great quick start to boost you up a bit. I recommend a week if you can make it that long. You also have to have the luxury of time when juicing, look for juice recipes that do well if you freeze them up ahead of time.

Do some googling on a Mufa rich diet and let me know what you think. I have read several articles lately on how well it works. I have been contemplating giving it a trial but have not as of yet.

Folks, Thanks for all the comments.

I'm beginning to see that this stimu package is so f'ing complicated that it sure as hell aint gonna satisfy everyone. I decided a long time ago to give O Man his first 100 days and see what happens. Personally, I don't want to see another dime going to corporate America. We learned a long time ago that trickle down economics don't work.

The juice thing aint gonna work for me. The hunger cravings are just too strong and having given up every other vice/craving/addiction I've ever had, I'm not gonna quit chewing, even for a couple days.
Right now I'm counting calories and trying to stay around 1000/day. 2000/day are recommended for weight maintenance, so we'll see.

Sagacious,

I, too, agree with Crystal. But we keep wondering how much this is going to cost our grandchildren. How much is it going to cost us? If the Fed keeps printing money, we're going to end up with some serious inflation. I ain't got no wheelbarrow to be lugging around enough loot to buy a gallon of milk. And, with all those horrible tax cuts, how many jobs is this really going to create?

Aside from that, I've been meaning to do this for awhile, but you are now on my blogroll.

And try the G.I. Diet. It's good stuff, and it works.
