Sometimes even friends best intentions go awry. I don't know if this will really cause him much trouble. I suspect folks that wouldn't vote for him because of his race aren't going to change their minds, but those who don't care won't read much into the Rev's remarks.
I don't worry about the main candidates as much as who they are paired with - that is the scary part, the part over which we have no voice. I think it would be a good idea to go back to making the candidate with the most votes the pres, and the runner up the VP.
