How did it feel last month when gas prices had topped $4 per gallon? In my small 6 cyl. pick-up truck, which is a minimum requirement for working my farm, it cost me over $10 just to drive to town and back. I know how it made me feel. . . I was wondering how long I could continue. As gas prices crept up, I went out and got work outside the farm. Now, one would have thought that being a benevolent international and U.S. based corporation, Exxon/Mobile would have contributed to the well being of our country by cutting back some of their profits so that the working people of America could get around. . . .
Exxon Mobil posts biggest US quarterly profit ever
HOUSTON – Exxon Mobil Corp., the world's largest publicly traded oil company, reported income Thursday that shattered its own record for the biggest profit from operations by a U.S. corporation, earning $14.83 billion in the third quarter.
Bolstered by this summer's record crude prices, the Irving, Texas-based company said net income jumped nearly 58 percent to $2.86 a share in the July-September period. That compares with $9.41 billion, or $1.70 a share, a year ago.
The previous record for U.S. corporate profit was set in the last quarter, when Exxon Mobil earned $11.68 billion.
Down in Venezuela, the gov't runs the oil industry. They have cheap gas and all the profits go toward social programs. I'm not suggesting that we nationalize the oil industry and become a dictatorship like Venezuela. . . we've seen where that might get us the past 8 years. Our dictator might just be another oil company lackey like MoronMonkeyBoy Bush the Chimp. But ya know, maybe we do need to regulate these greedy motherfuckers. They're sucking up the wealth of our nation at a startling rate. The poor are getting poorer, the middle class is barely surviving and the working class is becoming poor. You can't sell a decent $75,000 house in our capital city, I know, I've had one sitting for over a year, yet they continue to build $500,000 houses up on the hills.
And the proles will go to the polls and vote against their best interests once again, but the outcome this time may be different.
How do Exxon/Mobile's record profits make you feel.
Damn, I wasn't going to post anything political till 11/04. . . that lasted 24 hours.

Can we relax and enjoy?
I know, you big time campaigners out there like my son can't stop until all the polls are closed in Nov. 4th. . . believe me, I appreciate you and love you all dearly for the work you've done and will continue to do for the next few days. . . especially the man in Ohio who is busting his ass for low wages and little or no recognition just so that he can make this world a better place for all of us and especially the real American workers he works for. If you want the definition of "man-up," find my son.
Now having said that, I'm going to relax for a while and do something completely different. . .
For your consideration, another Ohio super hero. One who has shown his strength in politics, the atmosphere and space.
I give you John Hershel Glenn - American, fighter pilot extraordinaire, astronaut, U.S. Senator and all around nice guy.
Here's Mr. Glenn as a young astronaut (actually he was the oldest of the original seven).
Here's Mr. Glenn as an old astronaut. . . the oldest dude to ever go into space, and probably the baddest moth. . . oh, never mind.
Here is the honorable Senator John Glenn (D) Ohio (what a great president he'd have been).
Here is the senator with his lovely wife Annie. Their romance and relationship should be in the Couples Hall of Fame on the tallest pedestal.
And here he is again. . .
. . . because we all know, he was the original Mr. Clean.
Thanks John Glenn. I was just thinking about heroes and Ohio today and you came up in my mind like an old friend.

An October surprise?
IF this is true, does this matter?
Maybe not, but I think it does from the perspective of; what other skeletons are hiding in the closet?
Also, was it his fault? Was he drunk?
This is a guy with a ton of baggage on his head in the form of; locked up in a Hanoi prison for 5 years while being tortured. That would fuck me up. How badly did it fuck up McCain? He has never released and psychological records, briefs or summaries from competent psychologists assuring the American people that he is psychologically stable after such a horrid life experience. Shouldn't we know that before electing him to the presidency of the United States? Now this? Either of these trauma would shake the foundations of most men, possible rendering them incapable of leading this nation.
How can we elect someone who has not proven that they are NOT standing on a crumbling foundation?
We do know that the guy has anger problems and a tendency to seek revenge on his enemies. All signs of a shaky foundation. . .
What else do we know?
News Orgs Investigate Possibly Fatal McCain '64 Car Crash
October 28, 2008 09:45 AM
For the past two months, a major American magazine and an allied news service have been engaged in a legal battle with the United States Navy over records that they believe show that John McCain once was involved in an automobile accident that injured or, perhaps, killed another individual.
Vanity Fair magazine and the National Security News Service claim to have knowledge "developed from first-hand sources" of a car crash that involved then-Lt. McCain at the main gate of a Virginia naval base in 1964, according to legal filings. The incident has been largely, if not entirely, kept from the public. And in documents suing the Navy to release pertinent information, lawyers for the NS News Service allege that a cover-up may be at play.
"Plaintiffs have also obtained documents showing that law enforcement officers were ordered back to the accident scene to retrieve personal physical effects. The Navy has never publicly acknowledged this information," one document reads. "This request involves federal government activity, as it addresses what may be an attempt by the Navy to protect by concealment the involvement of a former Navy officer, sitting Senator and Presidential candidate in a serious incident involving the injury or death of another human being."
The first request for information concerning duty assignment logs to Portsmouth Naval Hospital -- where McCain was allegedly brought after the accident -- came in the form of a Freedom of Information Act request on August 28, 2008. The Navy acknowledged receipt of the request and advised that it had located the relevant information a few weeks later, only to deny the FOIA on grounds that it didn't prove an "imminent threat to the life or physical safety of an individual" or satisfy the criteria of "a breaking news story of general public interest."
"The patient admission record logs that you seek are exempt from release," wrote G.E. Lattin, Deputy Assistant Judge Advocate General, "as information in personnel and medical files, as well as similar personal information in other files, that if disclosed to a requestor, other than the actual person in which the information is pertaining to or next of kin, would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy."
NS News Service and Vanity Fair appealed the decision and asked for expedited treatment of the case, as the end of the presidential election loomed. But the Navy denied that request as well.
"It appears to be a deliberate refusal to provide clearly releasable information concerning assignments to Portsmouth Naval Hospital," wrote legal representatives for the two news organizations. "Allowing the Navy to extend its time to respond beyond a date when the documentary facts of this matter would be available for public consideration prior to the national election on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 would violate the spirit, as well as the provisions of the FOIA."
Staff for National Security News Service and the company's lawyer both refused to discuss the proceedings. And there are only parcels of information concerning the story that can be gleamed from the court documents.
At a minimum it seems clear that Vanity Fair and NS News Service have launched an investigation "disclosing first-hand witnesses' recollection of an automobile accident in which then Lt. John S. McCain III was involved. Those witnesses specifically recall McCain's assignment to that [hospital] facility with the other person involved in the accident." This episode in McCain's life has, it seems, not been made public, and the plaintiffs suggest that the Navy may be attempting to actively restrict information about the incident.
"The subject matter of the documents is a matter of current exigency to the American public," reads a document filed by legal representatives for the news service, "because the requester is preparing a current news report addressing whether the Navy continues to conceal the involvement of a Navy officer in a serious automobile accident in July 1964."
Maybe not, but I think it does from the perspective of; what other skeletons are hiding in the closet?

The horror
I hate capital punishment. It is inhumane, barbaric and simple unfathomable to me.
It's also one of those things I feel helpless against so I tend not to mention it and try to put the horror of it out of my head. MacDaddy won't let me do that so I'm going to cross post this from his site today.
Maybe it's time for those of us who would rather ignore the problem, especially those of us in non-death sentence states to speak up.
Troubling Question Surround the Troy Davis Execution
by Barry Schenk
By now, hopefully many people have heard about Troy Davis, who is set to be executed Monday in Georgia for the murder of a police officer in Savannah. Investigations conducted since his 1991 conviction have produced disturbing affidavits showing that seven of the nine key witnesses who testified against Davis now recant their trial testimony, claiming they were coerced to lie by Savannah police. Despite the seriousness of these allegations and the sheer number of recantations, Georgia courts and state officials have not only been unwilling to stay his execution, but they have even refused to hold a hearing with live, sworn testimony to assess the credibility of the recanting witnesses.
What most people don't know is why Davis can't get a full hearing on the new evidence -- and just how ridiculously far four judges of the Georgia Supreme Court have gone (there were three dissenters) to avoid reviewing post-conviction evidence of innocence.
The recantation of a witness alone does not and should not automatically result in a conviction being vacated -- recantation evidence is treated with caution by courts because, after all, the witness is saying he or she once lied under oath, so how can one be so sure they are not just lying again? Nonetheless, many wrongful convictions have been overturned because a recanting witness, testifying in person and under oath before a judge, is found to be credible and the reason for the recantation - often a claim that the original trial testimony was coerced - is found to be persuasive. But in Georgia the recanting witnesses don't get to testify because the state's courts have created an extraordinary Catch-22 rule -- the "purest fabrication" doctrine - that arbitrarily denies evidentiary hearings even when extremely persuasive recantation affidavits have been submitted.
The "purest fabrication" doctrine means that post-conviction hearings don't have to be held to evaluate the credibility of recanting witnesses unless the defendant can show, by extrinsic proof before the hearing is held, that the original testimony was absolutely false. The example cited by the Georgia Supreme Court in the Davis case is a recanting witness who testified at trial that he was an accomplice to a murder but can now show, to support his recantation, that he was incarcerated in another county at the time of the crime. Needless to say, in cases with that kind of extrinsic, objective evidence that the recanting witness gave false testimony, hearings are superfluous. In short, the "purest fabrication" doctrine allows Georgia courts to duck inexcusably the most troubling, serious, and controversial recantation cases, the ones that cry out for judges to make fair and full assessments of witness credibility and claims of police coercion, if only to buttress public confidence in the system.
What's left of the evidence against Troy Davis inspires little confidence. There was no physical evidence linking him to the crime. The case turned on the testimony of two jailhouse snitches, who have both recanted, and seven eyewitnesses, five of whom recanted. The steady drumbeat of DNA exonerations in recent years -- 223 people who served more than 2,500 combined years in prison for crimes they didn't commit -- shows that eyewitnesses can get it wrong and jailhouse snitches lie. More than 75% of these wrongful convictions involved eyewitness misidentification; 15% involved jailhouse snitches. Because DNA revealed the truth in those cases, they didn't rely on recanted testimony, although there were recantations in some of them. But DNA testing is an option in just 10% of all criminal cases. When DNA testing cannot be conducted, innocent prisoners rely on other evidence -- including credible witness recantations - to secure their exonerations.
The Innocence Project, which I co-founded with Peter Neufeld in 1992, advocates for legislation that improves the accuracy of the criminal justice system -- protecting the innocent and helping apprehend the guilty -- by addressing the root causes of the problem. Georgia lawmakers are currently considering reforms to eyewitness identification procedures in the state, but any reforms will come too late too late to help Troy Davis and other people who have already been convicted. We need to reform our criminal justice system to prevent wrongful convictions, but our courts must also be able and willing to examine new evidence of innocence when it is discovered, even when it requires making credibility judgments about recanting witnesses.
If we've learned anything from all these DNA exonerations nationwide, it's that our system makes mistakes. Georgia officials should stop Troy Davis' execution and give him a full hearing -- before carrying out a sentence they can never reverse.
It's also one of those things I feel helpless against so I tend not to mention it and try to put the horror of it out of my head. MacDaddy won't let me do that so I'm going to cross post this from his site today.

Delusion: A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence
Puffy McBush said today:
“We’re doing fine. We have a lot of enthusiasm out there. We’re working hard and enjoying the rallies and having fun. I’m very confident,” he said. “I think we’re behind, but it’s within the margin of error and we’re coming up. All the indicators are that we’re coming up.”
FOX - 10/20-21 40-49 Obama (yes, that's FOX)
CNN - 10/17-18 46-51 Obama
Pew Research - 10/16-19 39-53 Obama
CBS/NYT - 10/10-13 39-53 Obama
Numerous others show that Obama is polling ABOVE 50%. That means that no matter how the undecideds vote, Obama is showing a win.
But the good thing is, the undecideds are falling toward Obama at a more than 25% advantage in most polling.
This is shaping up to be a blow out if these polls hold and the Bradlet effect doesn't kick in big time.
So Puffy, exactly what do you base "it’s within the margin of error and we’re coming up."
What a sad joke Puffy McBush and his pitiful choice for VP have become.
Delusional, at best.

Potential voter fraud and lack of concern in WV
Maybe I'm making too big a deal of all this. Perhaps the potential loss of democratic votes and those votes being registered as republican votes (or if the opposite were true) just isn't a big deal to most people.
Well, it is to me. If one person losses their vote I believe the whole electoral process has been corrupted. I don't believe a single person should stand and defend, trivialize or remain silent about what has apparently happened in Jackson County and Putnam County, WV.
WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?
WHERE ARE THE WEST VIRGINIA BLOGGERS WHO SHOULD BE RESPONDING TO THIS?
Probably too busy promoting the same old WV republicrat agenda while brushing anything progressive or different under the rug. Welcome to West Virginia; business as usual.
Not much has changed since the days of a slap on the back and a pint of whiskey on the way out the door.
Good thing Obama doesn't need WV, but sadly, once again, WV will be a backwater of modern society. 50 years from now, when people look at the map of who put perhaps the greatest president in office and the first African-American in the White House they'll look at WV and say, "well of course."

Not good for the WV voter!
WV Journal, Oct 21.
[WV Secretary of State Betty] Ireland says the machines have been repeatedly tested, and are reliable. She said some could have lost their calibration when they were moved from storage and set up. She also echoed the Putnam and Jackson county clerks, who have said that the complaining voters may have touched the wrong part of the screen.

"Election Systems and Software, a company based in Omaha, Neb., has faced problems and controversies in other states.
In California, for example, Secretary of State Debra Brown issued a legal order on Aug. 3, 2007, banning the use of ES&S machines in any future California election. . . ."

Once again, the country's largest voting machine vendor, Election Systems & Software, Inc. (ES&S) has failed in yet another state certification process, The BRAD BLOG has learned.
In a letter faxed to the company yesterday, Colorado's Secretary of State Mike Coffman informed the Omaha, Nebraska company that the state has suspended the certification process of ES&S' voting systems due to a failure to provide required documentation and other materials needed to complete testing. That, after several previous deadline extensions had been granted.
"[T]here is a history of coordination issues with your company," Coffman wrote to ES&S' Vice President of Certification, Steve Pearson in the two-page letter, before detailing a litany of problems they've had with the company throughout the testing period.
California Review of the ES&S AutoMARK and M100

This article was posted on Ed Felten's Freedom to Tinker Blog and is reposted here with permission of the author.
California’s Secretary of State has been busy. It appears that ES&S (manufacturers of the Ink-a-Vote voting system, used in Los Angeles, as well as the iVotronic systems that made news in Sarasota, Florida in 2006) submitted its latest and greatest “Unity 3.0.1.1" system for California certification. ES&S systems were also considered by Ohio’s study last year, which found a variety of security problems.
California already analyzed the Ink-a-Vote. This time, ES&S submitted their AutoMARK ballot marking device, which has generated some prior fame for being more accessible than other electronic voting solutions, as well has having generated some prior infamy for having gone through various hardware changes without being resubmitted for certification. ES&S also submitted its M100 precinct-based tabulation systems, which would work in conjunction with the AutoMARK devices. (Most voters would vote with pen on a bubble sheet. The AutoMARK presents a fancy computer interface but really does nothing more than mark the bubble sheet on behalf of the voter.) ES&S apparently did not submit its iVotronic systems.
The results? Certification denied.
California's Testing Cracks ES&S E-Voting System Wide Open
Election Systems and Software (ES&S)
By Ryan Paul, ars technica
December 05, 2007
Earlier this year, California Secretary of State Debra Bowen established strict new standards for electronic voting machines, requiring independent code audits, Red Team security testing, and support for paper records. The Red Team testing process primarily involves subjecting the machines to review by security experts who attempt to hack the software and bypass the physical security mechanisms. Recent Red Team tests of ES&S voting machines have uncovered serious security flaws.
Previous Red Team tests commissioned by the state of California revealed significant vulnerabilities in devices sold by Diebold and Sequoia. At the time, ES&S declined to participate in the testing, citing lack of preparedness. The tests on the ES&S machines were finally conducted in October, and the results, which were recently published (PDF), show that products from ES&S are as insecure as the rest.
The first round of tests focused on the physical security of the Polling Ballot Counter (PBC), which the Red Team researchers were able to circumvent with little effort. "In the physical security testing, the wire- and tamper-proof paper seals were easily removed without damage to the seals using simple household chemicals and tools and could be replaced without detection," the report says. "Once the seals are bypassed, simple tools or easy modifications to simple tools could be used to access the computer and its components. The key lock for the Transfer Device was unlocked using a common office item without the special 'key' and the seal removed."
[WV Secretary of State Betty] Ireland says the machines have been repeatedly tested, and are reliable. She said some could have lost their calibration when they were moved from storage and set up.

Not looking good for the red team
Puffy McBush campaign is getting desperate and a sad movement it is indeed.
As the Obama campaign opens up a double digit lead in the polls, the right has had to resort to really low pitiful attacks. . .
Mel Martinez, a republican congressman from southern FL decided that the best way to steer the Latino vote was to call Obama a communist and compare his policy to that of Castro's Cuba. Yea, a US Congressman said that.
Republican Congresswoman Michelle Bachman from Minnesota has gotten up on national TV and said that the media should investigate the democrats in the congress for having "anti American views," Obama has "anti American views" and she also said that liberals in general were "anti American."
Puffy himself is accusing Obama of being a socialist. . . Oooooooo, the "socialist" boogey man raises it's ugly head. Please, I wanna hear one of them say "better dead than red." (I remember feeling guilty for thinking when I was a kid "fuck that, I'd rather be red.")
Sarah Palin, the genius from Alaska was asked by a school child what the vice president does, her response: the VP is in charge of the US Senate. Yes folks, Ms. PAlin doesn't even know what the VP's job is. No clue. Do you think a person running for the #2 position in the nation should know what the job entails and might want to read the Constitution of the United States and familiarize herself with what IT says the VP's job is? Astounding.
"Liberals hate real American's that [sic] work achieve and believe in god."
Congressman Robin Hayes, (R)NC in a warm-up speech at a Palin rally.
I'm getting kinda tired of these right wing pricks telling us that this or that part of America is or isn't the real America and that you've got to be a right wing republican conservative to be a patriot, etc. What a bunch of dick headed fucktards.
How dare these shallow minded misfits declare me less American that they are. Would you like to discuss American history? How about the finer points of the Constitution of the United States? Wanna see my pedigree? Let's have a show down mother fucker.
Sarah Palin believes that keeping gay couples from marrying will keep her marriage stronger.
She must know some things about her he-man Todd that we don't.
Palin breaks with McCain on gay marriage amendment
NEW YORK – Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says she supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, a break with John McCain who has said he believes states should be left to define what marriage is. In an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network, the Alaska governor said she had voted in 1998 for a state amendment banning same sex marriage and hoped to see a federal ban on such unions.
"I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that's where we would go. I don't support gay marriage," Palin said. She said she believed traditional marriage is the foundation for strong families.
Tell us about the 'destruction of the fabric of our democracy' Puffy. Isn't that what you said ACORN was doing to Amurkkka? I'm confused Puffy. . . where you comin from?
Huffington Post. . .
McCain Employing GOP Operative Accused Of Voter Registration Fraud
John McCain's campaign has directed $175,000 to the firm of a Republican operative accused of massive voter registration fraud in several states.
A joint committee of the McCain-Palin campaign, the RNC and the the California GOP made a $175,000 payment to the group Lincoln Strategy in June for purposes of "registering voters." The managing partner of that firm is Nathan Sproul, a renowned GOP operative who has been investigated for suppressing Democratic voter turnout, throwing away registration forms and spearheading efforts to get Ralph Nader on ballots to hinder the Democratic ticket.
"Lincoln Group" I hope they're from Lincoln, NE because using Abraham Lincoln's name for a group that suppresses voters is just SOOOOOOOO fucking wrong.

Possible Voter Fraud and Vote Rigging In West Virginia
Oct. 21
Still more people in Putnam County reporting problems voting.
Charleston Gazette:
Early-voting problems in Putnam
By Paul J. Nyden
Staff writer
WINFIELD, W.Va. - Two more Putnam County voters - Martha Louise Harrington and Michael K. Koon - have come forward about problems they experienced on early-voting electronic machines at the Winfield courthouse. . .
Deputy Secretary of State Sarah Bailey said 21,194 West Virginians had already cast early votes by Friday.
"Early voting becomes more popular every year," she said. "All the voting systems [in West Virginia] are manufactured by ES&S."
Election Systems and Software, a company based in Omaha, Neb., has faced problems and controversies in other states.
In California, for example, Secretary of State Debra Brown issued a legal order on Aug. 3, 2007, banning the use of ES&S machines in any future California election. . . .
"Touch screens in Putnam County have a certain delay. If your 'x' does not pop up, and you punch it again, it goes away. There is a delay from the time you punch it to the time when your vote is recorded," Casey said.
Where's the national press? Where is the Obama Campaign? Where is the US Justice Dept?

Ed. Note:
I made calls this morning to both the Secretary of State's office and the Attorney Generals office.
The attorney generals office put me in touch with the AG's chief of staff. She assured me that the AG was busy looking into the problem as we spoke and that they were very concerned with any irregularities and especially the coincidence that in both counties the mistakes strongly favored the republican side.
I hung up satisfied that they were pursuing all their options.
My call to the SOS office was a different matter. I voiced my concerns to two people who both passed me off until finally I was given a Mr. Jason Williams. Mr. Williams continued to tell me that it was only a calibration problem and that I wasn't aware of this and that and how things were done. He also let me know that the voters who registered complaint might not have known what they were doing. As I tried to calmly and logically explain to him that voters should not have to have skills to vote and that it seemed strange that the irregularities were one sided and that these development shake the foundation of people's confidence in the voting process and that I was familiar with the mechanics of touch screen machines and computer programming he continued to give me very canned answers while dismissing my comments. He then told me that they had other issues to deal with and if I had further comments I could e-mail them. click. Yup, he just hung-up on me. I was not belligerent, rude or in any way disrespectful. I simply presented myself as a voter who was concerned and scared that my vote might not count and looking for some assurances that our processes were safe. Yes, he hung up on me.
Did I mention that the Secretary of State of the State of West Virginia is a republican?
And it gets even better. I called the governor's office and asked if the governor's office was looking into the voting irregularities occurring in Jackson and Putnam Counties. The lady said "just a minute," and transferred me to another line. It rung and rung and rung and finally a voice mail message came on.
Would you feel confident voting in West Virginia?
U.S. Department of Justice and the West Virginia State Attorney Generals Office and the Secretary of States Office; please be advised that we have a serious problem here in West Virginia.
In two of West Virginia's most republican counties, voters are reporting that when they use touch screen voting machines and vote for the democratic candidate, the machine registers the republican candidate.
According to local news reports:
Shelba Ketchum, a 69-year-old nurse retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital, described what happened Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.
"I pushed buttons and they all came up Republican," she said. "I hit Obama and it switched to McCain. I am really concerned about that. . . .
"I asked them for a printout of my votes," Ketchum said. "But they said it was in the machine and I could not get it. I did not feel right when I left the courthouse. My son felt the same way.
WTF? Asked for a paper printout and they wouldn't give it to her?! I thought that was mandatory?
Yea, I'd feel very uncomfortable too! You walk out thinking thatmaybe your vote not only didn't count, but got registered to the candidate you oppose?!?!
Where is the outrage!
"I heard from some other people they also had trouble. But no one in there knew how to fix it," said Ketchum, who is not related to Menis Ketchum, a Democratic Supreme Court candidate.
Ketchum's son, Chris, said he had the same problem. And Bobbi Oates of Scott Depot said her vote for incumbent Democratic Sen. John D. Rockefeller was switched to GOP opponent Jay Wolfe.
"I touched the one I wanted, Rockefeller, and the machine put a checkmark on the Republican instead," Oates said of her experience Thursday.
She said she caught the mistake, called over a worker in the county clerk's office and was able to correct her vote. But she worries other voters may not catch such a mistake.
How many other voters had the same thing happen but didn't notice? How in the fuck could this be going on without the federal government and the state government coming down on them like buzzards on a shit wagon?
Putnam County Clerk Brian Wood said on Saturday that he is upset there are "so many negative stories out there and not enough positive ones. We want people to vote. People need to know the facts.
"But we haven't had any major issues. We try to explain to voters how the machines work then they come in," Wood said.
Excuse me moron republican clerk mother fucker, but you have machines registering the wrong candidate when people vote and you don't think that's a "major problem?"
Wood said some voters might not realize that touch-screen voting machines may take a few seconds to record their choices.
"The reaction time [on the machines] may be different. And when you hit the screen a second time, it cancels your vote," Wood said. "When you get in a hurry, if you go to fast and hit it again, you can cancel what you just did.
Ok MonkeyBoy, so it's the voters fault? Are these machines so fucking difficult to use that it requires a skilled operator? Is that what you're tell us? I don't think a person voting should have to have any skill other than being able to indicate what candidate they want to vote for. This shouldn't be something that requires dexterity or precision otherwise you give your vote to the other party.
Last week, three Jackson County residents said they experienced similar problems when they cast early ballots at the county courthouse in Ripley.
Virginia Matheney, one of those voters, said Friday, "When I touched the screen for Barack Obama, the check mark moved from his box to the box indicating a vote for John McCain."
Retired factory worker Calvin Thomas of Ripley said he experienced the same problem.
"When I pushed Obama, it jumped to McCain. When I went down to governor's office and punched [Gov. Joe] Manchin, it went to the other dude.
"After I finished, my daughter voted. When she pushed Obama, it went to McCain. It happened to her the same way it happened to me," Thomas said.
Jackson County Clerk Jeff Waybright, a Republican, said 400 other people voted without reporting any problems.
So what you little dismissive prick. Does that make it OK? How many of those 400 didn't notice that the piece of shit or rigged voting machines fucked up their vote?
You should be asking that question instead of categorically denying any problem.
Wood said, "Voting machines are very reliable. I hate the fact that stories like this are printed. It makes everybody get scared.
Same goes for you, you little right wing republican lackey. You're damn right people get scared. They're going to get REAL scared. In fact, I'm having to give careful consideration as to where and when I'm going to vote.
So please, will some gov't agency PLEASE come here to Putnam and Jackson Counties and figure out what's going on here? PLEASE!!!!
We need fair elections. We need to be sure our voting machines are not rigged and will accurately record EVERY SINGLE VOTE CAST.
Is this going on anywhere else in the country?

U.S. General Colin Powell
General Powell, This was your opportunity. After years of pandering to the right, this was your opportunity to show yourself to be the true American patriot that we always suspected you were.
Yea, you lied, lied like a desperate republican lackey before the United Nations about "yellow cake" uranium, which was probably your lowest hour, but even then you tossed in the towel and resigned. No, some of us will never forget that you lied hundreds of times in the lead-up to the Iraq fiasco, but we've always had some glimmer of hope when we watched you General Powell. Hope that you would be the guy who would step up to the plate and do the right thing.
But oh those military protocols and codes of honor. They have kept you at bay from opening up and spilling the beans on so many issues and entities. I guess I can forgive you on some level for being loyal to the commander and chief, but you were so complicit.
Today you had the opportunity to stand up and do what was right and endorse the best candidate for president of the United States we've seen in decades.
Thank you General Powell. You finally came through. You've done what was right and added your support to this noble cause. You are a decent man and one of the few to emerge in the past 20 years from the right.

'Joe the Plumber' strikes back at media
NEW YORK – "Joe the Plumber" is lashing out at the media for analyzing his personal life since he suddenly became a focal point of the presidential race last week. . .
Wurzelbacher said he felt terrible after reading some of the criticism of himself posted online.
"I felt about that small," he said. "I mean I really did."
A note to Joe:
Joe,
You fucking lied. You said you were going to buy a $250K business when in fact you only make $40k per year. You aint buyin no 1/4 million dollar business. The rest of your story was, at best an exageration, but mostly more lies.
You said all this in front of a candidate for national office with the media filming the whole thing. At best you are incredibly naive and more likely you're a fucking moron.
Now quit whining like a little paid bitch. Man up MFer. Have you played the victim card all your pitiful little life? You put yourself exactly where you are (with some help from your pimp Puffy McBush) so STFU and deal.

White Trash Like Me
Hold me back. . . I really shouldn't do this. . . WTF here goes. . .
Lemme tell ya something; I know white trash. I was raised it and I've lived it for most of my life. Now don't get me wrong, I was never dirt poor or living in any kind of squalor, I've simply been white trash for most of my life. Ya see, white trash is a state of mind AND a life style. It's sorta like "working class," if you don't live it, you can't really know what it's like any more than some white trash working class lug can know what it's like to be blue blooded rich, but I digress.
I think I got over on white trash a bit in my life. My parents always told their children that they needed to go to college. That was our goal. You see, nobody in our family had ever gone to college. Of 22 cousins on my father's side of the family, my brother and I were the only ones to go to college let alone receive college degrees. But true to form, after college and after I'd scored a decent job, I still moved my family into a trailer on three acres and built my own house with my own two hands just like a good ol white trash boy.
The details of my qualifications as someone who knows white trash don't really matter. What does matter is that I AM qualified to recognize white trash and I can see white trash comin from a mile away and smell it from even farther.
The first time I laid eyes on the Sarah Palin family, I knew I was lookin at some real white trash.
Todd Palin is the epitome of white trash. Check this guy out. . . the middle age goate, the hollow look on his face indicating that he's WAY beyond where he ought to be let alone where he feels comfortable. The guy races snow mobiles. . . That's sorta like racing dirt bikes or four wheelers around here. . . pure white trash. I guarantee you'll find PAlin sitting in front of the TV watching NASCAR when a race is on. Education? Not much. Exactly what he does is also a mystery. He fishes and he seems to have some sort of part time job with the oil companies. "Part time job" with the oil companies? How do you get a part time job with the oil companies where you get numerous months off during the year to go fishing? Face it, this guy is a redneck white trash. They can clean him up, put a suit on him and do whatever else they want to him, but he's still projects bubba-with-few-clues to those of us with white trash radar operating.
How bout that "Levi" "I'm a fuicking redneck" the future son-in-law? Popular football player, got the popular girl knocked-up so what's he do. . . probably at the urging of the white trash in-laws, he quits school and gits a job. Brilliant. Would you want your pregnant daughter marrying some dunderhead with no HS education or would you lend whatever support you could to see to it that they both finish HS and have the best opportunity they possibly can have for the future? The Palins did what white trash always does. . . "git a haircut and git a job boy."
That brings us to this whole jobs thing. Bubba has a job with the oil companies working around his salmon fishing gig and Junior get an apprentice electrician job without a HS diploma. Those both seem like fairy tale bullshit to me, but guess what. The first thing white trash people do when they get into any position of power, be it mini-pusher at a day job or apparently even governor of Alaska is, they get their relatives jobs. Typical white trash behavior.
I'm gonna leave the rest of the kids alone. They're all underage and not responsible for their white trash behaviors, but one thing about white trash adults is, they don't mind lettin the younguns mind the baby. Yep, you'll see six year olds walking around with infants in white trash trailer parks. ("where's yer Moma little girl?" the social worker visiting next door asks "Oh, she's busy gittin daddy up for work so I'm taking baby JimmyRay fer a walk. Here," she says to the 4 yr old, "you hold him for a while").
Oh and there's the beauty queen herself. Ya see, Sarah thinks she's gotten beyond white trash. I got news for ya honey, you reek of white trash. It's all over you. From the fundamental extremist pentacostal religion to the holier than thou attitude, to the community college degree it took you six years to get you stink of white trash. See the reason that proles are so easily manipulated is their preference of fundamentalist religions. The muslims actually get their's to blow themselves up. The christians get them to take down an abortion clinic now and then, but mostly it's all about drinking the kool-aide. . . and drink she has done.
The thing about white trash women who have gotten a community college education and maybe had a modicum of success is that they always have to whine in a high pitched irritating voice. Not that they don't have something to whine about, being forced to endure the strict mentality of white trashdom, but they do whine and it's aggravating. Ever listen to the Beauty queen governor speak? She's a fucking whiner. . . a sarcastic, snide, holier than thou whiner. Makes a white trash guy like me want to just tell her to shut the fuck up and either get on her knees or get in the kitchen. . . HA! just kidding, I'd never think like that. . . really, I'm educated. . . I got me some degrees. . . jist like Sarah's got her one.
Oh the beauty queen. Do you think Paris Hilton ever entered a beauty contest? I'll bet not. Ya see, beauty contests are for white trash babes looking for a way out. It has universal appeal to white trash babes. Contest winnings always come with a college scholarship. Who do you think they're trying to appeal to, those who can afford college? And oh how those beauty crowns provide them with stature. I remember when I was growing up, my best friend next door's sister won the Miss Nameofmyhometown crown. She really was a beauty. You'd have thought she won a Nobel prize. She was the shits of our world from July 4th (the day of the pagent) to July 4th the next year. Being beautiful, she went on to secretary school and then landed a good secretarial position where she became some sort of HR manager in later years.
Not every beauty queen gets to be governor, but then, not many beauty queens are from Alaska.
Sarah Palin is one big facade. She presents a face that reflect some level of education and enlightenment when in fact, right there below that hard thin surface is a raging angry bigot of white trash proportions straining to get free. "Raging" "angry?" You betcha. See, she got her some education and she thinks she deserves more than Todd the Cod or a sheltered life in Wasilla Alaska. She should be somebody. OK, so you became governor. That doesn't erase the anger and the rage. No my dear, that is part of you like the stripes on a tiger along with the discontent and that phoney "good girl" smile.
I've got a lot of respect for white trash folks who make it in the world and rise to some level of achievement. I have to. I've got a lot of respect for Sarah Palin as a fellow member of the white trash elite. We busted our asses to get somewhere beyond the drudgery and confines of white trashdom. Good for you Sarah, I respect you for it, but honey, that doesn't make you qualified to be president of the United States! Fuck NO!
Think about what you want in a president. Don't you want a cool calm person who is really well educated and has lots of experience in the broad array of areas and people?
Don't you want someone who isn't a festering anger ball waiting to explode?
I know white trash MFers who have gone to Harvard med school and were brilliant in their careers and I'd want neither of them in a position of power deciding the fate of the nation. Too much baggage, too much anger. The President of the United States needs to be a calm rational person; one with insight and forethought.
I suspect there are some white trash folks who could fit the bill. I'm not sure I've ever met one, but then I don't know if I've ever met ANYONE qualified to fit that bill.
One thing I do know for sure is; Sarah Palin aint one of them. She is a seething ball of white trash sardonic anger. Her intellect is about as developed as the lady who is mayor of our little burg here in the middle of Nowhere, WV.
What the fuck were Puffy McBush's people thinking when they advised/allowed him to pick this train wreck waiting to happen for VP?
Sarah, you're a joke. Stop embarrassing yourself and all the rest of us white trash chumps who are trying to pass through this world with some modicum of dignity and respect.
Self loathing?! Golly gee, I hope not.
The guy races snow mobiles. . . Puffy McBush vs. Obamarama
CNN post debate poll:
Who won:
O- 58%
M- 31%
(This number supposedly reflects the polls of other network news networks. . . according to CNN commentators)
Who was more likeable:
O- 70% M- 26%
Favorability ratings:
O- before debate - 63% after 66%
M- before debate - 51% after 48%
Who spent more time attacking:
O- 7%
M- 80%
Puffy was crushed again.
"Amurkins are hurtin and they're angry."
McCain has been saying that for the past 20 minutes.
He's sort of an absurdity the way he's down on all the things he's supported the past eight years.
"Acorn" is destroying the fabric of our democracy! BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
What a fucking moron. Doesn't know the difference between registration fraud and voter fraud. Filling out false registration forms doesn't change the landscape of the electorate.
Once again, Puffy McBush shows himself to be a hateful, bitter, nasty and VERY ANGRY old man.
Obama is being forced to explain Ayers, Acorn, etc. These are stupid non-issues.
One thing for sure. . . Obama has not left the high road of "lets talk issues" while McCain is entrenched in the low road of accusations and cheap shots.
Why is your VP better qualified than his VP?
This oughta be good.
It was.
"Well, let me just say. . . "
"Well, let me just say. . . "
Puffy has used that opening line with a sneer and snide voice a bunch of times so far.
Obama is talking about his education plan and Puffy is sitting there looking at him with a sneer. Who the fuck is coaching this imbecile?
Puffy. . . reward teachers, charter schools, vouchers. worn out old ideas.
This bozo is full of worn out old ideas.
Teachers should not have to take exams or be certified?!?! WTF? He really said that!
Puffy keeps talking about Sarah Palin and autism and how she knows all about that. Is Sarah Palin autistic? Aint that sumthin.
Good god!, McCain is the most sneering, snide politician I have ever seen!
closing remarks:
M- he's running down Bush and the past 8 yrs again. Are Amurkkkins buying into this shit? Stop the spending, help all not just the privileged few.
Is he not the most hypocritical MF ever?
O- "Fundamental change." He's talking about that unity thing again. We all gotta come together.
Aside. . . speaking of education:
BTW: Does it bother anyone that Sarak Palin's future son-in-lawe has quit high school and gone off to become an apprentice electrician on "the" pipeline?
To begin with, how do you become an apprentice electrician without a high school diploma? What sort of apprentice program would accept a high school drop-out OR what strings would have to be pulled.
What kind of family wouldn't INSIST that the young man finish high school before making any decisions about the future except that you're going to make getting a HS diploma a priority.
Does that say anything about the Palin family? How about Sarah Palin who got her college "communications" degree after 6 years and 4 colleges?

Dumbass Wall St. Bastards
Stocks Sink on Retail Sales Drop- AP
Stocks are falling sharply in early trading after economic readings raised the possibility that the country is either in a recession or moving toward one. The government's report Wednesday that retail sales plunged in September by 1.2 percent is fanning concerns about consumers. The decline was steeper than expected and is worrisome because consumer spending accounts for about two-thirds of U.S. economic activity.
1) Did they really need a gov't agency to tell them that retail sales would drop?
2) It surprises them that it dropped as much as 1.2%?! I'd have thought it would have dropped a lot more.
3) "the possibility that the country is either in a recession or moving towards one?!"
"THE POSSIBILITY?"
This just illustrates what an isolated bubble these bubble heads operate within. Any working person in the USA could have told these dumb fucks all this shit a month ago. We didn't need the banks to collapse to know we were in trouble. We've watch regular commodity consumer goods become luxuries for many of us. We've seen our paychecks shrink at horrifying rates and the price of the things we HAVE to buy go through the roof.
Many of us who never used to pay a whole lot of attention to prices at the grocery store are now very careful shoppers. Same goes with where and how we buy our gasoline. I know every place where I can get gasoline discounts with my two different grocery discount cards. I used to not think twice about hopping in the car and heading down to the capital city for a good coffee, a pastry and a little music, now I just don't make the 45 minute drive unless I can combine a few other tasks.
I don't need no fucking gov't agency to tell me how fucked up this economy is. Having them tell me that consumer spending is down 1.2 percent in Sept. just tells me one thing. . . they're padding the numbers. I know how drastically my spending has changed and I'm not living paycheck-to-paycheck. These fuckers are afraid to say how bad it really is.
Meanwhile, the Wall St. investors are shocked at such number. . . "OH MY! Who wouldda thought?!!" and the corporate royalist continue to give us a good fucking by spending our tax dollars on vacations, more buy-outs and retirement packages.
Go back to your Long Island compounds or your Park Ave apartments and contemplate that for a while you bunch of ignorant morons.
I gotta go feed my farm animals who are spending much more time foraging in the fields than they used to because the price of feed has doubled in the past year.

The Big Payoff
From the UK Guardian. . . today. . .
"The biggest ever sale of oil assets will take place today, when the Iraqi government puts 40bn barrels of recoverable reserves up for offer in London.
BP, Shell and ExxonMobil are all expected to attend a meeting at the Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair with the Iraqi oil minister, Hussein al-Shahristani.
Access is being given to eight fields, representing about 40% of the Middle Eastern nation's reserves, at a time when the country remains under occupation by US and British forces."
It has been a good month so far for the corporate royalist. Last week they got a $700Billion final infusion of cash that the national treasury didn't have. Today they get to bid on the biggest known petroleum reserve in the world.
This is the big one they've been waiting for since their MoronMonkeyBoy Bush the Puppet took office. It's the culmination of 8 years of raping and pillaging not just the national treasury of the United States, but other countries. They left the Iraqis defeated and devastated. The Chinese simply got to buy our children's future.
The corporate royalist got the cash.
To all you stupid fuck moron proles who voted for the corporate royalists via MoronMonkeyBoy Bush the Chimp. . . fuck you. You're an ignorant SOB.

Palin Defends Her Foreign Policy Credentials
by Denzil Blaylock HP(Hillbilly Press)
BUMFUCK - Sarah Palin today declared that she is well qualified to take the reigns of power by virtue of her knowledge of international relations in respect to her being governor of a state that is close to Russia. "Let's face it," Palin claimed "when Putin takes a ride in his helicopter, where does he go? Alaska. Just last month he was flying over Juneau and we waved to each other." She went on to explain, "as I looked out my living room window a while back and surveyed the Russian mainland out across the water I couldn't help but wonder if Putin was looking back at me." Reporters then explained to Ms. Palin that she was looking across a lake and what she was seeing was only the other side of the lake, but she exclaimed "Well gee, maybe we don't see America the way you do and that's just more negativity from the liberal press." The crowd then began jeering and throwing things at the reporters and one person told the offending newsman to "sit down boy. you don't know nuttin."
Governor Palin then explained "golly folks, if you don't think I understand foreign relations, just look at our names, "Palin" and "Putin??" The only diference is an "al" and a "ut." We've practically got the same name. You betcha I know international relations."
Those at the event hung on her every word and cheered as she made each statement. When she declared that Obama's degree in political science with a specialization in international relations from Columbia University and Harvard Law degree were no better than her community college degree in "communications," the crowd responded with cheers for her and chants of "traitor," "commie" and "off with his head" for Obama.

Random Nuts
Puffy the Dunce
Puffy McBush really is an idiot. He's not too bright and he's not very well educated. Back when I was a kid growing up, I had the unique opportunity to visit a remarkable planetarium. It was one of the best in the world. Everyone sat in a circular auditorium around this remarkable space alien looking projector that projected all sorts of images of the night sky on the ceiling.
It was like magic. You could zoom through the solar system and see things that were unimaginable. Back then, astronomers knew about 25% or less maybe of what they know now. There hadn't been any Hubble space telescope or Voyager explorers and men had never been beyond low Earth orbit. . . actually, the first time I went men had never even been in space. Today we know so much more and the "overhead projector" used in modern planetariums are incredible. In fact, here's the description from the one in the Hayden Planetarium in NYC.
$3 million "overhead projector."
The Digital Dome System takes the astronomical information of the Digital Galaxy and stores it on a Silicon Graphics® Onyx2™ InfiniteReality2™ visual workstation, one of the largest supercomputers ever dedicated to creating visual simulations and equivalent in power to those used by NASA or the largest military research laboratories. When the Digital Galaxy software is booted, the Hayden Planetarium's supercomputer generates a three dimensional map of the galaxy that is so realistic that the dome itself seems to disappear.
Someday, I want to go there and see what modern planetariums are like.
So the other night when Puffy McBush referred to the projector at the Chicago Museum of Science as an "overhead projector" I couldn't believe what a fool he was. I was waiting for O Man to assail him with the facts of what a planetarium projector was all about, but alas, he let it pass for good reason since there is just so much time in such a debate.
For me, it only showed what an archaic old man Puffy really is. He doesn't know how to use the internet, he thinks a planetarium uses an "overhead projector" and he's never used a blackberry . . . oh yea, neither have I. . . but I would if I were a US Senator.
And let's talk about health issues. This guy has had cancer more than once. Remember back in '92 one of the best men to run for president in my opinion, Paul Tsongas was a cancer survivor. He died in '94 and he was relatively young. Let's face it, Puffy doesn't look good. He looked hobbled the other night. He looked like he could hardly muster the will to go one at times. He looked very agitated with all the pacing around and nervous movement.
Medical experts who crunch such statistics have given Puffy a 25% (1 in 4)chance of dying in office. That emans there is a 25% chance that Sarah Palin would become president. Geez, if that aint enough to scare the fuck outta ya!
So do we really need an unhealthy, angry and generally ignorant old man for president in this time when we need energetic leadership that can tackle the tough problems we face. We need a man who can spend 16 hour days hashing out issues and proposals and educating himself on the conditions he is likely to face. We need someone who can communicate in this modern age both with the people he relies on and the American public.

Obama leads in WV by 8 points?!?! WTF? Will I have to do a retraction of all the nasty things I've said about WV being a backwater of ignorance and backwoods inbred morons? Will I have to go around to other blogger sites and make apologies?
Not so fast you bunch of hillbilly backwoods proles, it aint happened yet and all we're looking at is one poll by an organization called the "American Research Group" that I've never heard of.
But if, and that's a BIG IF, the electorate of WV decide to put aside their rampant racist attitudes and vote to give their electoral votes to Barack Obama, I will make whatever apologies within reason are requested of me.

Governor thinks movie based on Ernie Davis story should be labeled as fiction
Film includes racist scene that never happened at game in Morgantown
by Matthew Thompson
Daily Mail staff
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Joe Manchin said he is outraged by a new Hollywood film containing a scene that depicts West Virginia University football fans as bigots.
Opening tomorrow in theaters across the nation, "The Express" is based on the life of Ernie Davis, the first black athlete to win college football's Heisman Trophy.
The controversial scene shows WVU fans yelling racial epithets and pelting Davis and his Syracuse teammates with garbage.
Syracuse players who were there in 1960 - the only time Davis played in Morgantown - have said nothing like that happened.
I agree.
And while you're at it MonkeyBoy (yes folks, WV has their own MoronMonkeyBoy for gov), make Hollywood apologize for that little piece of fiction that glorified WV's native son with all sorts of false BS while the real heroes of the time who really had all The Right Stuff, were made out to be a bunch of whining incompetent frat boys. Talk about a piece of fiction!
Oh, and maybe we should take a close look at films like "We Are Marshall" and "October Sky" and see were the fiction lies within them. Hmmm, I wonder how many films have been made about people from . . . oh, North Dakota or Nebraska?
Ed. note: Historically, WV has actually been a very progressive state when it comes to equal rights in many areas such as the courts, education, labor and legislation.

Tell em what it is Joe!!!!
Biden: Palin's attacks 'malarkey'
Politico - Wed Oct 8, 9:49 AM ET
Sen. Joe Biden said Wednesday that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has gone 'way too far' in her attacks against Barack Obama. 'It's just malarkey, flat malarkey,' Biden said of Palin’s attacks linking Obama to former '60s radical William Ayers.
It's "malarky" I tell ya! It's "flat malarky!" It's not tomfoolery, it's not poppycock, nor is it monkey business! It's not baldedash, it's not phony balogna and it's not donkey dust! It's malarky!. . . plain old stinking, putrified MALARKY!
Thanks Joe. Loved it. Grand Daddy used to talk about malarky all the time. . . and donkey dust.

Desperation Express
Do the republicans really think that going ugly and nasty at this point in the campaign, when we are literally choking on our debt with the economy doing the worse tank job in 70 years is a good idea? Who is scripting this absurd behavior?
It seems that Ms. Palin is good at whipping the Christian soldiers into a frenzy. At Palin events people in the crowd have shouted "kill him" in response to her silly rants about OBama and weatherman Bill Ayers being connected at the hip. At another rally they shouted "treason" when she presented some false and highly exaggerated bullshit about a remark Obama made about the troops. At many of the rallies, she assails the press, because afterall, they are at fault because she has made such a buffoon of herself in interviews. The Palin zombies then turn on the press taunting an jeering them. This behavior culminated in a black sound man for one of the networks having a racial slur thrown at him and then being told to "Sit down boy."
These folks are not nice. At a Palin gathering of 11,000 in St. Louis that watched the debate on closed circuit, they all made a sarcastic collective "AWWWWWWW" when Biden went emotional, followed by laughter. Mr. Biden was speaking of the time his wife and daughter were killed in a car accident and his two sons lay in a hospital in critical condition. Nice, huh?
So how do crowds get this way? What motivates them to begin acting in a manner that can only be described as mass hysteria with no self accountability or forethought?
Well, if you watch these rallies, they are full of high volume patriotic music. The kind that solicits the emotions and shallow patriotic passions of a proletariat non-intellectual crowd. Songs like "I'm proud to be an American." As she enters and exits, they often play the theme from Rocky. . . you know, the one that convinces the movie audience that Rocky is the savior of everything good and right about America.
It's an old tactic. Political campaigns have been using these tactics since the beginning, but sometimes these tactic get outta hand. Sometimes people don't walk away feeling good about themselves, but hateful toward other people. Kinda reminds you of another politician who lived during the dark ages of the mid 20th Century in Germany.
And perhaps that's the real difference between these two campaigns. When Obama supporters walk away from one of their rallies or from watching Obama give a speech on TV, they are filled with hope and faith that perhaps, the future will hold something better for everyone. When Puffy McBush/Plain supporters walk away from one of their rallies, they are filled with animosity, anger and fear toward those they perceive to be bad.
Gee, that sorta describes the demeanor of Obama and McCain during last night's debate. . . hope and faith vs. anger, animosity and fear.

Obama the Destroyer
Never mind my notes, forget the fine points, Obama is simply destroying Puffy McBush.
McCain sounds like a hobbled old man. He sounds hateful and vindictive. Nobody's buying it. His answers are vague while Obama is citing fact and clear policy.
At best, it's Puffy's generalizations and sweeping remarks against clear policy and the recitation of fact and real proposals. Obama sounds more credible on every front.
McCain's attacks sound juvenile and really lame.
It's over for the McCain/Palin campaign. We're going to see numbers in the next few days that will indicate a landslide is on the way.
Oh, and "That one?!" That "one" what, you Puffy little old prick? WTF kind of disrespect and WTF kind of nasty bullshit was that?

U.S. policy that show US to be petty religious extremists
Is this the the great nation of "exceptionalism" that YOU see Sarah Palin? IS this the kind of policy that you think makes Amurkkka a great and benevolent country?
Lemme tell ya how I see it: I see a country of petty, hateful religious extremists who want to punish those who need our help the most. I don't see a hill of beans worth of difference between YOU, Sarah Palin and YOUR petty extremist religious fundamentalism and the extremist fundamentalism that advocates the destruction of America. You and the mid east Islamic religious fundamentalist extremists are just different sides of the same coin.
The sooner you right wing extremist whack jobs get your dull asses out of the business of running this country, the sooner we can get our asses out of the messes we are in internationally and domestically.
What a fucking mess this country is in . . . and to think, there are people who will vote for another four years of this shit. . . sick.
US cuts off family planning group in Africa
By MATTHEW LEE, Associated Press Writer Thu Oct 2, 5:46 PM ET
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration has taken action against an international charity in Africa over work it does in China, a step the group says is politically motivated and dangerous for poor African women and girls.

The State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development denied the charges but said Thursday that they had told six African governments to stop giving U.S.-donated contraceptives to the British-based Marie Stopes International family planning organization for distribution to their needy populations.
The move affects Ghana, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe and follows a determination by USAID that the organization is a major player in a U.N. program in China that the administration says promotes coerced abortion and sterilization.

Good ol fashion racist voter intimidation. . .
What will those fucked-up republican goons think of next?!
Sometimes I think we've come so far in Amurkkka, but then I see things like this and I'm left speechless. . . and Philly aint Mississippi or Alabama.
Vote-scam fliers target black neighborhoods
By CATHERINE LUCEY
Philadelphia Daily News
With just weeks to go before the presidential election, voter intimidation has reared its ugly head.
An anonymous flier circulating in African-American neighborhoods in North and West Philadelphia states that voters who are facing outstanding arrest warrants or who have unpaid traffic tickets may be arrested at the polls on Election Day.
Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Everett Gillison, who learned of the flier last week, said that the message is completely false.
"The only thing that police officers are going to do that we'll be encouraging that day is that they'll be exercising their own individual right to vote," Gillison said.
He plans to put up statements on the city and police Web sites to let citizens know that the handouts are false. He said that he also will record a public-service announcement for broadcast.
Gillison referred the matter to the U.S. Attorney's Office and the district attorney.
"We are not going to stand for any intimidation of voters," Gillison said. "Not in this city."
Thanks to Field Negro at fieldnegro.blogspot.com for the tip on this one.

Desperation is an ugly place to be. . .

Palin says Obama 'palling around' with terrorists
By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" because of an old association with a former '60s radical, stepping up an effort to portray Obama as unacceptable to American voters.
Palin's reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. Its members took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, during the Vietnam War era. Obama, who was a child when the group was active, served on a charity board with Ayers several years ago and has denounced his radical views and activities. . .
Palin told a group of donors at a private airport, "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." She also said, "This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America."
You're damned right we don't see the world and our country the same way you do you little fucked up sophomoric dunderheaded dip shit. We see this country for what it could be. We see this country as a place where all people regardless of their race, ethnicity, class, color or religion could thrive and prosper. We see this country as an influence of good throughout the world not a perpetrator of evil. We see a land of diverse beauty and likewise a beautiful blend of people who inhabit that land, not a set of resources to be exploited and a bland white washed landscape. We envision a country where every child is fed, everyone has a job and everyone has healthcare, not a country where corporations work to gather as much of the wealth as possible at the expense of everyone else. We see these things and say "why not?"
What DO you see Sarah Palin and who exactly are YOU palling around with?

"the" debate
ed. note:
(CNN) -- A national poll of people who watched the vice presidential debate Thursday night suggests that Democratic Sen. Joe Biden won, but also says Republican Gov. Sarah Palin exceeded expectations.
Poll respondents give Sen. Joe Biden the edge over Gov. Sarah Palin in ability to express views. . . .
Respondents thought Biden was better at expressing his views, giving him 52 percent to Palin's 36 percent.iReport.com: Tell us who you think did best
On the question of the candidates' qualifications to assume the presidency, 87 percent of those polled said Biden is qualified and 42 percent said Palin is qualified.
My notes:
WTF? This all sounds wrong. Palin is proposing things that sound almost liberal. She's making Puffy McBush sound like a reformer or someone who favors regulation of financial institutions. Oh, wait, she doesn't want to argue global warming. . . but we have to "clean up the environment" and Puffy is "right there also." But this all sounds eirie. . . strange. . . rehearsed! That's it. She sounds like she's reading a script. She sounds like a parrot. She sounds like she has been sealed away in a secluded place for the past week and drilled with all this information so that she could spew it tonight. She sounds like she hasn't presented an off-the-cuff remark yet.
Wow, McCain the environmentalist.
This is the most boring debate I have ever witnessed.
Biden talking in a droll voice and Plain spewing out bullshit like a college sophomore taking a final exam after staying up all night cramming with six hits of black beauties (that's a slang name for an old time amphetamine).
Palin has become a parody of herself by the end of this debate. . . "gosh oh gee, let's go to Washington!" "you betcha we're a gunna change things!" I'm waiting for her to say "gee willikers Gwen,. . . "
I'll bet middle Amurkkka is going to eat this shit up.

My sagacious prediction for Nov. 4
The '08 presidential election results will look very similar to the '96 presidential election results.
Yea, it's inevitable as long as everything remains on an even keel. As long as Obama doesn't do something totally unforgivable. . .
We can expect to see a popular vote with the democratic candidate Barack Obama getting between 5 and 10% more votes than Puffy McBush. I suspect it will be closer to 10 and 5.
The electoral tally will have Obama with over 300 and Puffy with less than 200.
That's my feeling as of right now.
