Report lists W.Va. as 2nd most obese state in nation

JACKSON, Miss. -- A new report says Mississippi again is America's fattest state, and adult obesity rates across the nation are on a steady climb. , ,
The report said Mississippi's adult obesity rate is 31.7 percent -- the highest in the nation. It was followed by West Virginia with 30.6 percent; Alabama with 30.1 percent; Louisiana with 29.5 percent and South Carolina with 29.2 percent.

I think Colorado ended up at the botton of the list? But I don't understand why.
I believe Mississippi is the poorest state in the nation as well. There may be some correlation between obesity and poverty.
Yes MAc, Mississippi is the poorest state making us the second poorest state.
The right likes to tout the fact that there doesn't have to be hunger in America because there is enough food to go around. That may actually be true right now, but the food is cheap, high carb and high fat leftovers. Compound that with the fact that when people have nothing else, they'll eat for the pleasure factor (addictive eating is a very real problem) and you've got a formula for cultural obesity.
I chuckled at the post, then got hit by the serious remarks from you and Macdaddy, SH.
