Teach your children

No matter who you are, where you are or what you are. . . .

Make sure your children know how much you love them.
Know where your children are every moment of everyday (as much as possible).

Teach your children well. Be the greatest teacher they will ever have.

Be involved in their lives as much as you possibly can.

And today, let me say this; when they get their driver's license, teach them to drive as thoroughly as possible. If they aren't good drivers, make them keep learning with YOU in the car until they are.

Life is very fragile. Cars are very dangerous. More people die in cars than any other single source yet we throw our children the keys and say, "go on."

Our world can be completely altered and totally fucked up in an instant.

No, it didn't happen to me.

Wise words. And I'm glad that you reminded us of that without a tragedy prompting it. The point is to prevent them.

Good reminder. My kids are in the following locations: Eric: Korea (USAF), Rex: Japan (US Navy), Samantha: Norfolk, VA (US Navy), Vicki: home (4th grade). I always try to know where my kids are and what they're up to.

Ted - I do the same thing!

A tragedy did occur. It happened last night and a beautiful and talented 15 yr. old is gone. Her older sister was driving the car and survived without a scratch.

Oh, SH, I'm so sorry. Something similar happened to a former student of mine. His granddaughters were involved in a similar kind of wreck in which one was gone and the driver (her sister) had not a scratch. I'll be sending good thoughts the driver's way, as I can't imagine what she's going through
