The U.S. government against the Native Americans: 2007

Billions owed Indians debated in court
By MARY CLARE JALONICK, Associated Press Writer Wed Oct 10, 4:41 PM ET
WASHINGTON - The Interior Department is doing all it can to account for billions of dollars owed to Indian landholders, a department official told a federal court Wednesday in legal arguments over the Indians' 11-year-old lawsuit against the government.

The suit claims the government has mismanaged more than $100 billion in oil, gas, timber and other royalties held in trust from their lands dating back to 1887.

When will the injustice against Native Americans stop?

The judge in this case said it best. . . .

"the judge lambasted the Interior Department, writing in a decision that it "is a dinosaur — the morally and culturally oblivious hand-me-down of a disgracefully racist and imperialist government that should have been buried a century ago.""

A "disgracefully racist and imperialist government."

That about sums it up.

Unfortunately, that judge will probably get impeached for telling the truth. Fucking reality sucks.

What are you talking about reality?
We have The Next Top Model, Kid Nation, etc.
That's reality, right?

SlightlyAnnoyedMan, I'm not sure that is cause for dismissal. Judges say a lot of really crazy stuff on the bench.
cRag, Thanks for that reality check.
LovelyTM, If only we'd only given them smallpox blankets and firewater. .. hell, we could joke about that together now if that was all we'd done. The horrors of the American westward expansion are many.
