Politics vs. Reality

Clinton highlights Obama's objection to gas tax holiday
By SARA KUGLER and MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writers
GRAHAM, N.C. - Hillary Rodham Clinton criticized Barack Obama on Monday for opposing proposals to suspend federal gas taxes this summer, a plan she and Republican John McCain have endorsed. Obama didn't take the bait. He ignored Clinton and focused on McCain.

The federal tax on a gallon of gas is 28 cents. At $3.59 per gallon, that's 7.8% of what you pay at the pump. So they take that off the price of a gallon of gas between now and Sept. Of course the oilcompanies will respond by raisingthe price of gas, so it won't be long before we'll be paying 3.59, 3.69, or whatever all over again. Come Sept, the federal tax will bereapplied and the price will zoom on up over $4.00 per gallon if it hasn't gone there already, in which case it'll still go up 28 cents per gallon overnight.
After eight years of republican policy that has raised consumer costs, raised our federal deficit to unbelievable level beyond anyone's ability to imagine just eight shortyears ago and given huge tax cuts to the corporate royalists, the last thing this economy needs is another tax cut.
And watch, I guarantee that if a tax repeal is made, it will give the biggest break to corporate interests.

The corpo-fascists hate it when a liberal democrat takes the fiscally responsible position. Remember how they hated Bill Clinton?
