Some background on Grandpa Fred Thompson

Seems that somehow, as a young lawyer, he became the republican counsel on the Watergate committee hearings. He was kinda like the republican Sam Dash, except that we saw Sam Dash in action and you sir, were no Sam Dash.

Young Fred soon began conspiring with the White House low lifes to discredit witnesses, especially John Dean. Seems the Nixon captains regularly fed him dirt on each of the witnesses. . . . especially John Dean. Of course, the tactics were a dismal failure and young Fed Thompson crawled back under the rock he came out of (only to emerge later as a big ugly Hollywood character actor).

The really funny part of all this is that Nixon repeatedly commented to his aides that "this guy isn't too bright, is he?" Really, it's all on tape.

Let's face it folks, here we have a guy with the brains of Moron Monkey Boy; Bush the Chimp, the phoney shallow Hollywood bullshit personality of Ronald Raygun and the low life bottom feeding ethics of Richard Nixon. I suspect he will be their man and they'll be proud.

I still say my flock of turkeys would make the best president.

I wouldn't call Fred a BIG Hollywood actor. He's a minor Hollywood actor.
I love it that Nixon called him "Dumb as hell".
If this all the republicans have that's just sad.
Peggy Noonan had an editorial in the Wall Street Journal a week ago or so. She discussed the wealth of talent, experience, & knowledge on the democrat presidential candidates.

The republican presidential candidates fall short in comparison.

He ain't going to get elected President, he may not even get the Republican nomination.

Does "wealth talent, experience, & knowledge" really mean anything when the American proletariat go to the polls? Remember, this is the country that elected a burned out alcoholic who had NEVER accomplished anything in his life without his father and his father's cronies very strong backing, and then it was just as a representative of their power and wealth.

So yes, Fred Thompson could very well be the next president.

i can never quite picture fred thompson as "young".

i agree with your "flock of turkeys for president" thinking. if they were doing a poor job, they could always be useful on thanksgiving or other overeating holidays. that is more than can be said for Bust or Thompson.

When I was in college, I had an close aquaintance who was an obnoxious, rednecked, overbearing, know-it-all. He was very interested in all things German and especially third reich. He went on to become a lawyer and to this day is considered the most obnoxious overbearing buffoon in the WV bar.
Interestingly, the young Fred Thompson looks a lot like this guy did when he was young. . . dark and evil in an idiocratic sort of way.

Oh my gawd. When you put it all together like that... he's practically destined to be president.

Excuse me while I go back to banging my head against the wall.
